On this Adventure with Bernie I travel to Gunlom Falls in World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory, Australia.
Gunlom Falls featured in the movie Crocodile Dundee as did other parts of Kakadu.
This picturesque waterfall is one of the finest and most popular falls in Kakadu, with cascading waters and pristine plunge pools. Sweeping vistas can be enjoyed from the top of the falls whilst enjoying a refreshing swim in the infinity pool.

Travel to the Northern Territory most unique waterfall and endless plunge pool - Gunlom Falls. What a great day! Gunlom Falls is located in the Kakadu National Park, around 330 k from Darwin -and it was well worth the trip. While you are there make sure you enjoy the amazing Gunlom Falls infinity pool - its been carved out by nature over thousands of years. Gunlom Falls infinity pool is located at the top of the falls and is a challenging hike, but can be easily done. Once you get to the top the views are amazing and the water cool (temperature hit 37 deg when we were there) inside the infinity pool. Pack your picnic and eat on site (make sure you take your rubbish with you).
For a bit of fun we sent up the Phantom 3 Standard drone to truly capture the scenery - WOW!
We did try to get to Jim Jim falls but we ran out of time.
We also stopped at the entrance to the Kakadu National Park for a photo with the welcome sign - that was something we will treasure (we even snuck in a timelapse video as the sun was setting).
Dont just be an armchairtraveller. There is lots to do in the Top End of Australia so visit tourism Australia for more.

Kakadu National Park, one of the biggest Wildlife parks in the Northern Territory... Only because they don't have many! ????
In this episode we visit Jim Jim Falls, Gunlom Falls, Barramundi Gorge (Maguk), Gunlom Falls and Motor Car Falls. All of them are very different and special in their own little way.
Hiking to the top of Jim Jim Falls is a highlight, with the spectacular views of the valley below.
Sadly there was virtually no 4wding in this video and everything was very accessible to almost any high clearance vehicle. But the spectacular gorges and waterfalls made up for it!
Fun Fact: A scene of the Australian movie Crocodile Dundee was filmed at the bottom of Gunlom Falls!

A long drive in over some lumpy and corrugated dirt roads. Lovely big swimming hole and lots of rocks to climb and small waterfalls to explore.

My Bucket List idea Gunlom Falls infinity pool, Waterfall Kakadu National Park Australia Plunge Pool
Gunlom Falls is located on Waterfall Creek, in the Kakadu National Park, and it has been a Bucket List idea of mine for a long time. I have now been there, and had a swim in the infinity pool it’s just amazing, magical even. It has well and truly lived up to my expectations of it, and I am sure I will be going back again
To get to the rock pool at the top of the waterfall, you follow a steep walking trail, which takes you from the bottom of the waterfall, up to the plunge pool and the amazing views at the top.
I was at Gunlom Falls the third week in May, and that is when this video was filmed.
Kakadu National Park is in the Northern Territory, Australia. It is very popular with tourists, they travel there from all over the world.

Gunlom Campground - Kakadu National Park
The Gunlom campground is a large open area with hot showers, flushing toilets and firepits. There are no designated areas and there is an honesty box for camping fees. A short but VERY strenuous walk to the top of the waterfall is a must with magnificent swimming holes and views across the entire landscape. There is a beautiful waterhole at the bottom of the waterfall as well and there appear to be no crocodiles here so swimming is safe.
You can fit camping set ups of all shapes and sizes in this camping area however the road in is 32 kilometres of graded dirt road which can be quite corrugated if not graded recently. Live2Camp would recommend 4wd vehicles and campers only.
