Danny Hilman believes that this sites hide an ancient temple built between 9,000 and 20,000 years ago, which made Gunung Padang become the oldest pyramid in the planet.
One of mysteries which has not been solved is a five-round phenomenon. In terms of structure, the site consists of five terraces. Each terrace is believed to have a different meaning and function. Almost all stones in the location is also associated with the number five. Every corner of the pentagon-shaped stone. Mount Padang is also surrounded by five mountains, the ancestor, Emped, Malati, Pasirmalang, and Stone. The road to the location was fairly challenging because of broken here and there. Upon arriving at the site, visitors still have to climb stairs to get to the top.

The Maritime Mysteries Explorers made a trip to the megalithic site of Gunung Padang in Indonesia recently. There have been a number of stories about the age of this site and the possibility of this being a man-made constructed step pyramid. This was also an opportunity for them to reconnect with their Indonesian colleagues. They were joined on the trip by Dicky Zainal Arifin and Ahmad Samantho, both of whom are consultants to the Presidential Task Force, who are investigating this site and other phenomena related to the ancient Sunda civilization. The entourage included students from Ahmad Samantho's Bat al-Hikmah Institute and members of his Atlantis-Indonesia Organization.

Gunung Padang :: A Masterpiece of Ancient Architecture From A Lost Civilization

The archeology team lead by DR. Ali Akbar of University of Indonesia found, during the excavation, evidences which confirm the survey results of the previous team that there were underground human-made structural constructions in Gunung Padang.
Gunung Padang is a megalithic site located in Karyamukti village, Cianjur regency, West Java Province of Indonesia, 50 km southwest of the city of Cianjur or 6 kilometers from Lampegan station.
The carbon dating analysis on its carbon element taken from the core drill in the depth of 5-15 meters conducted in 2012 in a world class Laboratory BETA ANALYTIC, Miami, Florida USA shows that the age is approximately 13,000 to 23,000 years ago.
The age estimation of the site is controversial since the mainstream science has no knowledge or has been rejecting the existence of (advanced) civilization in the era as ancient as this, wherever in the world, not to mention in Nusantara which is believed to have primitive prehistoric era, although it has a rich and beautiful nature, let alone in the time before 10,000 years ago; while in the barren desert of Egypt, people can construct an extraordinary construction like pyramid. But the fact in Gunung Padang contradicts this.
Located at 885 metres above sea level, the site covers a hill in a series of terraces bordered by retaining walls of stone that are accessed by about 400 successive andesite steps rising about 95 metres.
The new fact rejects the dogma; it was not impossible that the ancestors in Nusantara had a civilization as advanced as the ancient Egypt, even in the more ancient era.
In addition, the geoelectric survey conducted around the excavation site uncovers more fantastic fact of the ancient construction features.
Result of geoelectric surveys confirms that the terraces structures of Gunung padang are identical with those of Machu Pichu in Peru, built in the 15th Century.
Result of the geoelectric and georadar surveys reveals that structures of lava rocks with the thickness of 20-30 meters are the main element which formed Gunung Padang morphologically.
Idea of building construction with bricks made of columnar joints was brilliant, but it was certainly not an easy job. Brilliant means that the shape of columnar joints, which is artistic, would make the construction extraordinarily artistic; then the heaviness and the solidity of the lava codes made the construction very strong and solid.
It is more surprising that the filler material was found between these columnar joints. Even, some of the joints broke into pieces, but are rearranged and reformed using the filler material, identified as the ancient cement. The deeper to the excavation the more cement was found with the thickness of 2 centimeters between the columnar joints.
Besides that, the ancient cement was also found in the stepped cliff between Terrace one and Terrace two and also in the sample of the core drill from the depth of 1 to 15 meters.
The research in Gunung Padang has not finished yet.
Research by the team shows the collaboration, from many institutions and disciplines with the research method completing one to another, is required to uncover the Nusantara cultural heritage, and particularly on the giant monument buried under the ground. Gunung Padang cannot be ignored.
Although them are still many unanswered questions and unfinished analyses, the results have provided information and hopes that
Gunung Padang is potentially as great as Borobudur, even greater since it can become an evidence of great monument of the oldest super civilization, which has never been known before.
Gunung Padang can be the key evidence of the cradle of civilizations.

Situs ini dikelilingi oleh lembah-lembah yang sangat dalam. Selain itu, lokasi ini sebelumnya memang telah dikeramatkan oleh warga setempat.
Situs Gunung Padang yang terletak Desa Karyamukti Kecamatan Campaka, Kabupaten Cianjur, Provinsi Jawa Barat, merupakan salah satu situs punden berundak terbesar di Indonesia dan Asia Tenggara. Situs gunung padang memiliki lima buah teras yang memiliki orientasi arah utara - selatan. Secara etimologi situs Gunung Padang berasal dari kata “padang’” dalam bahasa Sunda berarti caang atau terang benderang. Ada juga pengertian lain dari istilah “padang”, yaitu: pa (tempat), da (besar; agung), dan hyang (eyang; moyang; leluhur), dari ketiga kata tersebut kemudian kata ‘padang’ dimaknakan sebagai tempat agung para leluhur.
