Palki the palanquin here to be seen is a historical one donated by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. A lot of construction activity can be found here after the Movement for free Corridor to Kartarpur sahib started in the year 2001.

Gurdaspur (Punjab), May 02 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Sunny Deol offered prayers at Gurdwara Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab’s Gurdaspur on Thursday. He is BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency. Deol is contesting election against Congress’ Sunil Kumar Jakhar, Aam Aadmi Party’s Peter Masih and Punjab Democratic Alliance’s Lal Chand. The elections in Punjab will be held on May 19 in the last phase for all 13 seats.

Kartarpur Corridor To Be Inaugurated On November 9 | NDTV's Ground Report
The corridor linking the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Punjab's Gurdaspur district with the Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan will be inaugurated on November 9. India and Pakistan had signed an agreement to open the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for Indian pilgrims on October 24, ahead of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.

Navjot Singh Sidhu offers prayers at Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur
Gurdaspur (Punjab), Aug 25 (ANI): Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu visited and offered his prayers at Dera Baba Nanak shrine on Saturday. He prayed for the opening up of corridor to Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan. During his visit, Sidhu also offered his prayers to Kartarpur Sahib and saw the shrine through binoculars. He said, “All four doors of Shri Darbar sahib are open for everybody, whether he is king or pauper, Darbar sahib treats them equally. Let’s do away with our egos. We should actually make an effort for Kartarpur Sahib corridor. You’re Obligated to try level best. That's what will ultimately matter. Let's rise above politics.”

‘Nagar Kirtan’ carrying Guru Granth Sahib Reached Dera Baba Nanak. Nagar Kirtan is a religious procession. It will culminate at Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district of Punjab in India after passing through various cities and towns. This procession by devotees is to mark 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev founder of Sikhism.
Guru Nanak Dev:
He was founder and 1st Guru of Sikhism. He was born in 1469, in village Talwandi now known as Nankana Sahib, is situated near city of Lahore in present day Pakistan. Sikhs around world celebrate auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Dev’s birth on Pooranmashi (full moon) day in Lunar monnth of Katak (October-November), which falls on a different date every year.
550th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev In November:
In November 2019, 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak will be celebrated. However, on November 2018 Central government decided to celebrate 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev at national and international level for a period of one year from November 2018 to November 2019.
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Gobind Singh Longowal on Thursday urged Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to appoint two representatives of the state government in order to jointly celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev here.
The SGPC, which is organizing the nagar kirtan that came from Nankana Sahib, has finalised the first phase of its route. As per the schedule, the nagar kirtan will leave for Dera Baba Nanak, where the corridor to Kartarpur Sahib (Pakistan) is being constructed, on August 2 via Majitha and Fatehgarh Churian.
On August 3, it will leave for Gurdwara Barath Sahib, Pathankot via Batala and Gurdaspur and next day it will go to Jammu via Sujanpur. It will visit Pathankot, Mukerian, Dasuya and Tanda (Hoshiarpur) on August 5 and then leave for Anandpur Sahib via Una and Nangal the next day. It will go to Mohali on August 7 and leave for Gurdwara Nada Sahib, Panchkula, the next day. The procession will leave for Yamunanagar on August 9.

Gurudwara Shri Dera Baba Nanak Ji
Guru Nanak, the first master, spent the last days of his temporal life at Gurdwara Dera Baba Nanak. The exact location of Gurdwara Dera Baba Nanak is on the left (or east) bank of Ravi River on the Indo-Pak border. Guru Nanak Dev used to visit this site for meditation.
On the right (or west) bank of river Ravi Guru Nanak Dev founded the city of Kartarpur. At the age of seventy, Guru Nanak Dev Ji left for his heavenly abode from here. The Gurdwara is in the territory of Pakistan, but you can see it standing ashore the East bank of River Ravi or from the town Dera Baba Nanak at a distance of about 4 Kms.
