Badluram Ka Badan original song – Assam Regiment Marching Song with lyric
The Story Behind: Even more fascinating is the legend of soldier Badluram and story of how the regimental song/ march came to be adopted. “Badluram ka badan Zamin ke neeche hai….aur humko uska ration milta hai…” (Badluram’s body is buried but we draw his ration) goes the regimental song. The legend of the song is based in a true story: Badluram was a soldier who died in the ‘Japan War’ (World War II). His Quarter Master was apparently ‘smart’ and continued to draw rations on the jawan’s name.
The surplus ration that collected in the name of Badluram over the months proved to be a godsend when the regiment was surrounded by the Japanese and cut off from supplies. The regiment survived the siege thanks to Badluram’s ration and averted a possibly disastrous fate that could have resulted in many deaths goes the story.
Later on, Late Major M.T Proktar wrote this song to show respect to the legend “Badlu Ram”. And the tune has been taken from the song John Brown's Body. So Badluram, his badan and his ration are now a part of regimental tradition and lore. Every passing out ceremony – Kasam Parade – of young recruits at Happy Valley in Shillong features a rousing, inspiring rendition of Badluram ka Badan; a thoroughly enjoyable and morale uplifting performance. It is a wonderful way for the Rhinos (the Assam one horned rhino is the regiment mascot) to rejoice and celebrate their sense of pride, belonging and camaraderie.
Lyrics:
Ek khubsurat ladki thi…
Usko dekh ke rifleman…
Chindi khichna bhul gaya…
Havaldar Major dekh liya…
Usko pittu lagaya…
Badluram ek sipahi thaa…
Japan war me mar gaya…
Quarter Master smart thaa…
Usney ration nikala…
Badluram ka badan zamin ke nichey hain… x 3
Toh humein uska ration milta hain…
Sabashh… hallelujah… x 3
Toh humein uska ration milta hain…

India Gate New Delhi Reflect Rich Culture And Heritage | India Gate New Delhi Most Famous Historical Monuments of India | India Gate New Delhi Photos and Videos
The India Gate, originally named All India War Memorial, was built to pay homage to the 82,000 soldiers of the Undivided Indian Army who lost their lives fighting for the British
Empire in World War I (1914-1918) and the Third Anglo-Afghan War (1919). It was undertaken as part of the Imperial War Graves Commission (IWGC) initiated by the British
Imperial Mandate in 1917.The foundation stone was laid by the visiting Duke of Connaught on 10 February 1921, at 4:30 PM, in a military ceremony attended by members of the Indian
Army as well as the Imperial Service Troops. The Commander in Chief, and Frederic Thesiger, 1st Viscount Chelmsford who was the Viceroy of India at the time, was also present. The
ceremony hounored the 59th Scinde Rifles (Frontier Force), 3rd Sappers and Miners, Deccan Horse, 6th Jat Light Infantry, 39th Garhwal Rifles, 34th Sikh Pioneers, 117th
Mahrattas, and 5th Gurkha Rifles (Frontier Force), with title of Royal in recognition of their gallant services in combat. The project was completed ten years later in 1931 and was
inaugurated on February 12, 1931, by the Viceroy, Lord Irwin. Every year on 26th January, the Republic Day parade starts from the Rashtapati Bhavan (the President House) and
progresses around the Gate. The parade displays the latest achievements in the field of defense technology as well as the rich cultural heritage of the country. All India War Memorial
was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, a leading war memorial designer at that time. A member of the IWGC, he designed sixty-six war memorials in Europe, including the Cenotaph, in
London, in 1919. Cenotaph is the first British national war memorial erected after World War I and was commissioned by David Lloyd George, contemporary British prime minister.
Although it is a memorial, the design is that of a triumphal arch, similar to the Arch de Triomphe in Paris, France. Situated at the centre of a hexagonal complex with a diameter of
625m and a total area of 360,000 m2, the India Gate is 42m in height and 9.1m in width.

STORYLINE :
India's army on Tuesday said it had killed 12 suspected Islamic militants in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir, nine of whom it claimed had slipped across the disputed border with Pakistan.
The 12 were reportedly killed in three gun battles in India's only majority Muslim state, where Islamic separatists have been fighting Indian security forces for more than a decade.
In fighting overnight north of the city of Srinagar, soldiers said they intercepted two groups of suspected infiltrators in forested areas near the border, killing nine.
Another three suspected Muslim guerrillas were reported killed in a separate clash on Tuesday with paramilitary forces.
The army said there were no Indian casualties in the fighting.
There was no independent confirmation of the casualty figures.
According to the army, the shoot-outs with the two groups of suspected infiltrators marked the second and third attempts in the past two days by Pakistan-based insurgents to enter the Indian part of Kashmir.
Five were killed in the Keran sector, 180 kilometres (115 miles) north of Srinagar, in a gun battle that lasted seven hours.
Soldiers killed four others in a fight in the Maschil sector, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) away.
On Sunday, the army killed seven suspected guerrillas after they crossed over from Pakistan-held territory in the same area.
The Himalayan province is divided between India and Pakistan and is claimed by both in its entirety.
India accuses Pakistan of training, arming and sending Islamic militants into Indian-controlled territory to attack soldiers and government targets.
Pakistan says it provides only moral and diplomatic support for the rebels.
More than a dozen rebel groups have been fighting for Kashmir's independence from India or its merger with Pakistan since 1989.
India says infiltration by insurgents is continuing despite Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf's claim that he has done whatever necessary to stop the movement across the border.
Elections for the state legislature in Indian-controlled Kashmir are scheduled to be held in September and October.
New Delhi says it will hold talks with Pakistan on the Kashmir dispute only after Islamabad stops supporting cross-border terrorism.
