GURUDWARA SHRI CHARAN KANWAL SAHIB is situated in the Machiwara town of Ludhiana Distt. After Martyrdom of his two Sahibjadas and few sikhs SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI left the fort of SHRI CHAMKAUR SAHIB and reached village CHUHARPUR and sat to relax under tree, Where GURUDWARA SHRI JHAR SAHIB is situated. From there he came to the jungles of MACHIWARA SAHIB. GURU SAHIB reached near well. he drank water from that well then took tind (a Pot which draws water from well) and used it as pillow under JAND tree to spend his night. That old jand tree is still present.

ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚਰਨ ਕੰਵਲ ਸਾਹਿਬ Gurudwara Charan Kanwal Sahib , Machhiwara History

Gurdwara Charan Kanwal at Machhiwara marks the site of the garden where Guru Gobind Singh had a sip of water and a spell of brief sleep. It was here that his three devotees Bhai Mani Singh, Bhai Daya Singh and Bhai Dharam Singh joined him. The sacred shrine commemorating the historical event, has a beautiful building, worthy of the holy tradition. An annual congregation fair is held in December, corresponding to 9th & 10th of Poh, the days of Guruji stay at Machiwara.

Another shrine popularly called Gurdwara Chubara Sahib is located at Machhiwara. Here at the house of Masand Gulaba where the Guru spent the night. The place is known as 'Gulaba da Chubara'.

It is here that the Guru sang the shabad Mitra Pyare Nu. The Gurdwara is supplied water from the same well believed to be the one from which garden was watered during those days. Baisakhi Celebrated in Kargil at Historical Gurdawara Charan kamal sahab .

Baisakhi is one of the major festivals of Sikhs and is celebrated with lot of enthusiasm and gaiety in the state of Punjab and all throughout the world where there is a significant Sikh population. Baisakhi festival is tremendous religious significance as it was in a Baisakhi day in 1699 that Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru laid the foundation of Panth Khalsa, the order of pure once.

Like other part of the country Baisakhi Celebrated at Gurudwara Charan Kamal Sahab, Organised by Indian Army 121 Inf Brigade, Local Unit 22 JATT and Local Sikh Community of Kargil where thousand of devotees in which Army Jawaans, Local Sikh Families, and other religion also participated in this celebration with tremendous enthusiasm and gaiety.

During Baisakhi celebration Brigade Commander 121 Infantry Brigade was chief guest and Deputy Commissioner Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain was Guest of honor on the occasion, beside All Rank Army officers, Police officials, Army Jawaans, civil and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

Later a Guru ka Langer were also arranged by Gurudwara Committee for Guests and devotees.

It is pertinent to mention here that a small program were also organized by local Kargili Sikh family at Gurudwara Balti Bazar, were Sardar Karan Sing Chairman Gurudwara Prabandth Committee Kargil recite Paat and later distributed Prasad for the devotees.
