STREET FOOD NETFLIX - Seoul, South Korea
I did enjoy watching the Street Food Netflix show, especially the amazing cinematography and the amazing stories of the people behind the food. However, there wasn’t much emphasis, if any, on the eating part of the street food. So I happen to be in Seoul for a few days, and I happen to know Dan Gray ( who helped arrange the Seoul Street Food Netflix episode, and so he took us on the same tour, except this time, focused on eating everything.
Here are the places covered in the Street Food Netflix, Korean street food in Seoul episode:
Gwangjang Market - Most of the entire episode was filmed at the famous Gwangjang Market, a market I’ve been to many times, and is a must visit for Korean food lovers in Seoul.
Yoonsun Cho - Gohyang Kalguksu Stall - Most of the Netflix Seoul episode was based around Yoonsun Cho and her incredible kalguksu, hand made knife cut noodles. They were very home-style tasting, very comforting and delicious. She also serves a number of other dishes including nangmyeon, and seaweed noodles, all of which were very good. Her sauce is also amazing, and her kimchi. Price - 5,000 KRW ($4.21) per bowl
Honglim Banchan Stall - Probably the most delicious food on this entire Korean street food tour Netflix episode was the soy marinated crab from Honglim Banchan Stall. The crab was melt in your mouth and the marinade was perfect. Even better is when she scooped out some roe and mixed it with rice in the shell.
Bindae-tteok stall - There’s an entire section of Korean street food dedicated to bindae-tteok at Gwangjang Market. Along with these crispy mung bean pancakes, we also ordered Yukhoe, Korean raw beef with egg and pear. Price - 30,000 KRW ($25.27) total
Dongdaemun Food Street - Finally, the last thing in the Street Food Netflix episode of Seoul was the Baffle, a unique creation of rice made into a waffle, filled and topped with all sorts of interesting things. Price - 4,000 KRW ($3.37)
It was a fun Korean street food tour, and we all had a great time eating and meeting the friendly vendors from the show.

8 STREET FOODS TO TRY IN KOREA! | Gwangjang Market in Seoul, South Korea
In this video, we try 8 types of KOREAN STREET FOOD at the legendary Gwangjang Market in Seoul, South Korea.
We start off the day by having Isaac Toast, a popular breakfast toast chain, in Myeongdong. Highly recommended!
Then second breakfast at Migabon, known for their porridge/congee. This place was right on top of Sinseon Soelnongtang, the ox bone stew restaurant we visited the previous day.
Afterwards, we visited Bukchon Hanok Village. It was quite crowded but definitely worth the visit. Next time perhaps we’ll go early in the morning to avoid the crowd. Then we made our way towards the artsy town of Insa-dong where we visited the popular Jogyesa Temple and Ssamziegil (we tried POOP bread!).
Following Insa-dong we made our way to the famous Gwangjang Market for a full on street food tour. Needless to say we enjoyed it immensely (and so did our bellies). We even visited Gohyang Kalguksu Stall which was featured on Netlfix’s Street Food!
And because we weren’t stuffed enough, we had to go for Korean BBQ buffet at Meat-ing. Super affordable and quality was decent!

KOREAN STREET FOOD TOUR of GWANGJANG Market in SEOUL, South Korea
Subscribe for more food and travel videos:
If you love to EAT then GWANGJANG MARKET is a MUST VIST in Seoul, South Korea. You can sample a range of traditional, local KOREAN STREET FOOD here. We take you on a food tour of Gwangjang Market in this video….
We eat:
Bindaetteok
This mung bean pancake is very popular at Gwangjang Market and you’ll see a number of vendors shallow frying these golden, crispy pancakes. They are made up of ground mung beans and vegetables and is dipped in a vinegar, soy and onion sauce.
Gimbap
The vendors at Gwangjang Market are well known for selling Mayak Gimbap which are ‘narcotic rice rolls’. These seaweed rice rolls don’t actually contain narcotics but they’re so named because they’re super addictive! Pickled vegetables are rolled together with rice and dried seaweed, brushed with sesame oil and then sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds. Delicious!
Bibimbap
Bibimbap is a must eat at Gwangjang Market. Giant bowls of fresh vegetables and kimchi line the benches of the bibimbap vendors. Bibimbap is mixed rice so rice, sometimes barley and a load of fresh and pickled vegetables is mixed together before eaten. We had ours served in a hot stone bowl but you can also have it cold. A dollop of gochujang (red chilli pepper paste) adds a mellow fiery kick!
Yukhoe at Buchon Yukhoe in Raw Beef Alley
Raw beef alley is another must visit when at Gwangjang Market. We ate at Buchon Yukhoe which is Michelin recommended (Bib Gourmand 2018 Seoul). We sampled the steak tartare which is served with matchstick pears, sprouts, raw egg yolk, sesame oil and sanakjii (raw baby octopus). The beef is brought in each morning and it was super fresh!

Our final video in Seoul, South Korea features the classics of KOREAN STREET FOOD, starting at the Gwangjang Market (Kwangjang Market). We sample some of our favourite Korean dishes including tteokbokki, kimchi mandu and japchae. We also stopped on the way out for dessert, eating a bean porridge which was delicious! We explore the famous Ikseon-dong Hanok village for souvenirs and stop at a busy coffee shop for sweets and caffeine. Later that day, we eat something that you CAN’T MISS while in Korea - KOREAN BBQ! This Korean barbecue cooks the pork belly and the kimchi together - and the mix is delicious. We washed the meal down with soju. It was an AWESOME day of eating Korean food. Best Korean Street Food in Seoul at Gwangjang Market: She Fed Me! (Day 5)
Read more about Korean street food at Gwangjang Market here ►
One Day 5 of my trip to Seoul, we had an amazing day of eating Korean street food at Gwangjang Market (광장시장), and then had some of the best Korean fried chicken in Seoul.
1:43 Jinjujip (진주집) - After having a few hassles of internet loading in Seoul, I finally got to a good cafe and had some great internet. After that I met up with a good friend of mine and we walked over to Namdaemun Market to eat at a restaurant that specializes in Korean oxtail soup. Although it was pretty expensive, I think as always oxtail soup is in Seoul, it was pretty good. The oxtail was soothing and tender, and tasted especially good with the sauce provided. We ate, kkori Gomtang (oxtail soup) - 21,000 Won ($17.62) and haejangguk - 7000 Won ($5.87).
6:28 Gwangjang Market 광장시장 (Jongno-5, Exit 9 or 8) - One of my favorite things to do in Seoul is go to the wonderful Gwangjang Market (광장시장) to eat Korean street food. If you’re a food food lover, when you’re in Seoul, visiting this market is mandatory. Walking through the traditional Korean market you’ll be amazed at the quantity of food available, each Aunty calling and willing to serve you delicious food. Eventually after walking around a while we just chose a stall and sat down to eat. We chose the right stall. The Aunty serving the food there proceeded to start feeding me, and not just me, but Ying and her sisters as well. I ordered a number of different popular Korean street food dishes including sundae - 7,000 Won ($5.87), blood sausage, mayak gimbap - 4,000 Won ($3.36), what translates to Korean narcotic rice rolls due to their addictive properties, and tteokbokki - 3,000 Won ($2.52), which are the rice cakes in chili pepper sauce. Read my full blog post about Gwangjang Market here:
12:35 Hanchu Fried Chicken (한추) - Sometimes labeled as the best Korean fried chicken in Seoul, this was a place I wasn’t going to miss. So we took the Seoul Metro over to Apujeong Station, Exit 5, and walked for about 10 minutes to get to the beer hall. I ordered a plate of Korean fried chicken, plus fried peppers and a pitcher of beer. The fried chicken was prepared in a batter that included crushed up chilies in it - that’s definitely part of the reason why the chicken was so good. It indeed was some of the best Korean fried chicken I’ve ever had. Thanks to Jeffrey and Dan from for the recommendation.
Day 5 was our final full day in Seoul. Stay tuned for more videos from Jeonju (an important food city in South Korea).

GWANGJANG Market traditional Korean market in seoul
Seoul, South Korea! We were here in November 2019. In this clip, we pay a short visit to the GWANGJANG market. This was the largest traditional Korean market in Seoul, and a tourist attraction in its own right. While we are not really
market people, we came by just to take a quick walk through. Spotted many traditional Korean stalls, selling more or less the same food! I could identify the food - anybody knows, do leave a comment!
It was mid morning. A lively atmosphere. Some stalls had very good business, others had none. I guess the locals know where to go!
Korea Street Food. 'Bibimbap' Alley at Gwangjang Food Market, Seoul
Gwangjang Food Market, Seoul, South Korea
Bibimbap is a Korean rice dish. The term “bibim” means mixing various ingredients, while the “bap” noun refers to rice. Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul (sautéed and seasoned vegetables) or kimchi (traditional fermented vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste), soy sauce, or doenjang (a fermented soybean paste). A raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. The hot dish is stirred together thoroughly just before eating. Vegetables commonly used in bibimbap include julienned oi (cucumber), aehobak(courgette), mu (radish), mushrooms, doraji (bellflower root), and gim, as well as spinach, soybean sprouts, and gosari (bracken fern stems). Dubu (tofu), either plain or sautéed, or a leaf of lettuce may be added, or chicken or seafood may be substituted for beef. For visual appeal, the vegetables are often placed so adjacent colors complement each other. In the South Korean version, sesame oil, red pepper paste (gochujang), and sesame seeds are added. The Bibimbap meal includes meat, rice, sesame oil, vegetables, as well as gochujang which are presented as a single dish and eaten with chopsticks and spoons. The meal provides unique nutrition and flavor fused with attractive colors due to its rich ingredients. Furthermore, the ingredients have low calorie content, hence offer a healthy diet. The combination of vegetables, rice, fermented sauces and meat provides adequate fiber, carbohydrates and protein content.

Seoul, South Korea Travel Vlog (Ep. 1) ???????? | Myeongdong, Insadong, Cheonggyecheon, Gwangjang Market
Hello beautifuls and handsomes! How’s October treating you so far?
As you may know, I was in Seoul last week. It was such an eye-opening and memorable experience for me. This was my first time traveling to another country with a group of friends. It was also the second country I traveled to besides Singapore and Vietnam. ????
I was very fortunate to meet kind souls throughout the trip. Thanks to them I was able to truly immerse myself in the Korean culture. ????
This is part 1. There will be more vlogs coming up within the next two weeks or so. ????
Oh and the flight really made my skin go haywire, so I didn’t wear much makeup to avoid further breakouts. Pardon my super tired and shagged face throughout the trip. ☹️
