Le 18 janvier 2011 Grand Case à St Martin aux Antilles a connu un moment d'émotion très fort. Béa de Gymfit a voulu partager avec la population, la chorégraphie originale de la fameuse flash mob de Chicago avec les Black Eyed Peas et Oprah. Plus de deux cents personnes sont venues habillees de blanc pour vivre un moment exceptionnel et inoubliable. Je tiens à remercier tous les participants adultes ados et enfants qui par leur presence ont permis la realisation de ce projet magique d'unir pendant quelques minutes St Martin. Béa

ILOVESXM.COM - Relay race [25th Annual Around the Island] NOv 2012

CAY HILL--The 25th Edition of the St.Maarten/St. Martin Day Round the Island Relay race discovered a new champion when Road Runners sponsored by Coors Light defeated the defending champion Gymfit by more than two minutes, yesterday.

St. Martin Day Round the Island Relay is an annual event whereby athletes from St. Martin and overseas join together to form a team to run 10 legs around the island. For the 25th anniversary, the organisers decided to run the race backwards or in the opposite direction of the past 24 years. Rather than the second leg being at Burger King in Cole Bay and the last leg being at Paper Garden in Great Bay; the second leg was switched to Paper Garden heading to Sucker Garden and the last leg was at Burger King in Cole Bay onward to the Raoul Illidge Sports Complex.

The longest leg which may not necessary be the most difficult leg is 4.4km (last leg), while the shortest leg is 2.25km (second leg). They also made it mandatory that only females should start the first leg.

According to preliminary results, Road Runners clocked 2 hours 39 seconds which is one minute 23 seconds off its own record which was set in 2010. In second place, Gymfit crossed the finishing line at 2 hours 3 minutes 28 seconds and in third place was Watt de Neuff with a time of 2 hours 13 minutes 50 seconds to complete the teams on the podium for the adult division.

In the junior division which included children who are 19 years and younger, the youth team from the French side got first, MPC placed second and Lost Penguins got in third.

Team Malcolm comprised of athletes who were 60 years and over competed in the race in memory of Malcolm Maidwell who was one of the founders of the Relay Race.
