Aubrey was a Speech-Language Pathologist, Donnie was graphic designer, but we both had a dream to travel the world and experience cultures. After three years of being married and dreaming about if something like this great adventure would be possible, we decided to quit the rat race and take on the world. We sold everything we had, quit our jobs, and took off! We don't know how long we will get to do this, and we do have a goal of getting jobs in the UK eventually, but we are going to live it to the fullest while we can!

I began my summer trip on a pedestrian walkway located at the old city center of Copenhagen. It starts at Kongens Nytov and ends at the Parliament. It has always been one of the busiest streets in the city. With no cars allowed, it is an outdoor shopping experience--the cobble stoned streets are lined with boutiques, department stores, good food, live music, and street performers. My grandmother used to walk here with high heels and gloves--now anything goes!
Rundetårn (Round Tower) and Vor Frelsers Kirke (Church of Our Saviour)
We wanted to get a better view of the beautiful city of Copenhagen, so climbing to the top of a 17th century tower seemed like a fun thing to do. After seven and a half stories of turning corridors, we made it to the top, with incredible views of the city.
In addition to the round tower, we went to another landmark--the Church of Our Savior--which had an outdoor winding staircase that we climbed to the top. It gets very narrow, slippery, and extremely windy as you reach the top
City
In the city of Copenhagen, bikes are more popular than cars. The city is a great place to walk or bike around.
Nyhavn (New Harbour)
At Nyhavn, there is a canal, entertainment district, and a 17th-century waterfront lined by brightly coloured townhouses, bars, cafes, and restaurants. The canal is home to many historical wooden ships.
Copenhagen Canal Tour
We wanted to see the capital of Denmark from a different perspective, so we took a boat tour around the city.
Little Mermaid
The famous sculpture is made of bronze and granite and was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale of the Little Mermaid.
It is the most crowded tourist attraction in Copenhagen.
Papirøen (Paper Island)
Paper Island has a prominent place in Copenhagen Harbor and offers everything from street food, to art, and showrooms. The warehouses used to hold paper for the Danish press.
Food
The food in Denmark is outrageously insane. Everything you get to eat is very tasty and fresh, from Smørrebrød to Classic Danish hotdogs.
Kongens Have (The King’s Gardens)
The King’s Garden was established in the early 17th century for Christian IV’s Rosenborg Castle. It is amazing how there is a quiet, green garden and castle in the center of the city.
Tivoli
We decided to enter one of the oldest operating amusement parks in the world, and it was so much fun, that we went back there 3 times. The most insane ride of all is called Vertigo. It goes 100km/hr, has 360 turns, and you experience 5G. Totally crazy.
We ended the night with Fireworks in Tivoli Gardens. Tomorrow, we take the ferry to the mainland to see our family and friends.

This is a circular catwalk in the air with each glass pane being a different hue. You can walk around and see the city through many different colors.
Skagen
At the northernmost tip of denmark, two seas conflict with strong winds and harsh waves.
Farm
To complete the trip, we went to my family’s farm and saw where they grow wheat and barley. I got to ride the ATV for a little bit longer than I should have, but it was a lot of fun. They have over 300 cows that produce 750,000 gallons of milk each year. It was great to meet my relatives, they were very hospitable and made our trip very memorable. Mange Tak!
Copenhagen, Denmark: Tivoli Gardens
More info about travel to Copenhagen: Europe's most famous amusement park is Tivoli Gardens, an ideal place since 1843 to see Danes at play. One admission price lets you lose yourself in a Hans Christian Andersen wonderland of rides, restaurants, games, marching bands, roulette wheels, and funny mirrors. By day it's a children's fantasyland, but as night falls Tivoli becomes more adult-oriented. Day or night, with or without kids, the cozy confines of Tivoli are a true magic kingdom. In Denmark
H.C. Andersen's loving national poem about the nature and people of Denmark - sung by Danes with different backgrounds. Pricewinning short film.
In Denmark is primarily a documentary praise of the country, expressed by a group of citizens whose origin, or whose forefathers origin is abroad. There are refugees and immigrants of all types, variations and generations, those who have been adopted, foreigners married to Danes, children from mixed relationships, people from the colonies; Greenland, Iceland and the Faeroe Islands, Jews and a German from the south of Jutland.
Everyone sings a line from the song; it is sung from the heart, telling us something about their own life. The film has proved difficult to define, - the Odense Film Festival screened it as a film for children - this is amazingly symbolical to the basic idea of the film: why define and place? Drop the autopilot and experience for yourself!
Denmark Beyond Copenhagen
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | Using Copenhagen as a springboard, we'll visit the very best of Denmark. Aarhus welcomes us with its ruddy affluence, charming open-air museum, and eerily well-preserved ancient bog man. Roskilde impresses visitors with its royal burial church and the best Viking-ship museum anywhere. And the delightfully quaint isle of Ærø comes with half-timbered cottages, ships in bottles, and cobbled alleyways that remind us of the world of Hans Christian Andersen.
