La canción My Saint Helena Island es el himno nacional no-oficial de la Isla de Santa Helena. Como un territorio de ultramar del Reino Unido, el himno oficial es God Save the Queen. La canción fue escrita por Dave Mitchell.

Dave Mitchell era un DJ en la radio AFN Volcano de la Isla Ascensión. Su amigo Charlie Renn el presentó a la gente de la Isla Santa Helena y se empezó a involucrar con ellos, haciendo fiestas en toda la isla. The song My Saint Helena Island is the unofficial national anthem of Saint Helena Island. As an overseas territory of the United Kingdom, the official anthem is God Save the Queen. The song was written by Dave Mitchell.

Dave Mitchell was a DJ on the AFN Volcano radio on Ascension Island. His friend Charlie Renn introduced him to the people of Santa Helena Island and became involved with them, having parties all over the island. This friend suggested Dave make a song for the island. Dave was unwilling to do it (and he never went to Saint Helena). Then Charlie, who visited the island, quickly gave Dave color postcards of Saint Helena. Sitting in his bedroom for a night or two studying the postcards, Dave grabbed his guitar and in a few minutes the song was ready.

The song was an immediate success for those of Saint Helena in Ascension. With the help of a recording company called Camaro Records, Dave made four songs in Memphis, Tennessee, United States in 1975. Dave and Charlie planned to make a trip to Saint Helena to distribute some copies of the song and photographs of him in person. , but it was not possible so he had to send them letters. The reaction in Saint Helena was enthusiasm and quickly My Saint Helena Island became the de facto national song of Saint Helena.

Patrick Dougherty Discusses his plan for his art installation at HALL St. Helena

We are delighted that Patrick Dougherty has chosen HALL as the new site for his latest art installation. Dougherty is known for creating larger than life sculptures around the glove from local samplings, and we invite volunteers from the community to join him!

Patrick describes his work: My job is to make a compelling work that excites the imagination and causes passerby to come running. The installations are meant to be interactive and fun, so all ages are invited to come and help!

Over the last thirty years, Dougherty has built more than 230 Stickwork installations - from Scotland to Japan to Brussels, and all over the United States. Environmental sensitivity is always a top priority, so while each piece uses a variety of saplings, they are gathered from maintained or salvage areas and land slated for development. Each installation requires approximately one tractor trailer load.

St. Matthew Island Alaska Expedition

Cornell Lab Multimedia producer Andy Johnson spent a month on the remote Alaskan island of St. Matthew filming the endemic Pribilof Rock Sandpiper and McKay's Bunting. Andy reports on a changing arctic as well as the incredible birdlife he documented there.

This sparked her enthusiasm for dentistry, and upon returning to the U.S., she enrolled at San Francisco State University and graduated with a BS in Cellular Biology. She went on to attend the University of the Pacific Dental School where she graduated in 1984. Upon graduation from UOP, she completed a residency with Branemark Implant System. This is when she decided that she would focus on Implant and Restorative dentistry, as well as Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Demetrakopulos opened her practice in downtown San Francisco where she created some of the Bay Area's most beautiful smiles. In 2004, she decided to move out of the big city, and start a practice in the heart of the Napa Valley Wine Country. She was now able to combine her love of dentistry along with her passion for food and wine. Her state of the art practice in St. Helena is located in the restored depot building. Vineyard views and rolling hills are enjoyed outside the windows, and everyday, the Napa Valley Wine Train stops outside the door.

Dr. Demetkrakopulos works in partnership with her Artistic and Laboratory director, Mr. Jerry Parks. He is one of the best laboratory masters of porcelain fabrication in California. Working together, Dr. D and Mr. Parks custom make smiles, choosing the perfect shape and the shade to give patients the smile they have always dreamed of.
