My Winter holiday in Tromso (Tromsø), Norway, 2017, continues! Today we see the German pocket battleship Tirpitz (sunk in 1944), some stone-age pictographs: Summer Island, aka Sommaroy or Sommaroya; Kattfjord (the Fjord of Cats) and Ersfjord. We also get a glimpse at Haja (Håja). The weather was a bit iffy, but didn't spoil the fun.
By the way, if you're the guide on this trip and would like a link placed here, please let me know! I think I booked a 'Fjord Excursion' through Polar Adventures, but I could be mistaken as the receipt has gone AWOL.

ABOUT ALPHATUCANA We are fundamentally alone in this vast and mysterious Universe, but we don't want to be. In the struggle to survive, to 'succeed', or to just get by, we sometimes forget the bigger picture, and we sometimes forget to just relax for a while and remember what an amazing world this is. There is plenty to look at: science, Nature, society... And there are plenty of games to help us get away from it all, since as humans we have a built-in need to play as well as to explore...
POSTING SCHEDULE This depends in part on whether I have had time to record videos in between going to work and living the rest of my life! Usually it runs like this: - Sat or Sun: a video at midday (UK time) - Gameplay videos: Maybe Sat or Sun at midday &/or 6pm plus Tues & Thurs at midday if I have any ready - If I have something extra to post it usually appears at some random time :) I may livestream occasionally too.

Whale Watching Tromso Arctic Norway III
January 16th, 2016 I follow out on the fjords with my colleague Marcus, in for his whale watching tour. We started the tour out from Lauklines Kystferie, in Kattfjord, and sailed out to Håja (the model for the Arctic Cathedral), and then towards Sommarøy.
Pity, but I forgot my zoom and had only with me the Aurora lens, 14-24 mm, so I decided me for quit the pictures and do filming instead with my Nikon D7000, and it went it to a great success.
It was a crazy day out on the fjords together with the humpback whales. Just loved it..;)

Understanding Time Zones
Time zones are based on the fact that the Earth moves 15 degrees longitude each hour. Since there are 24 hours in a day there are 24 standard time zones on the globe. (24 hours x 15º = 360º) Time zones are counted from the Prime Meridian (0º longitude). Each time zone is counted at 15 º intervals and extends 7½º either side of a central meridian. For example, Sydney, Australia lies in the 150ºE central meridian, and the time zone includes all locations between 142½ºE and 157½ºE.
