Weird SHOCKING Japanese festival - your kids tough enough for this?
Watch this weird and shocking Japanese festival. You'll see SCREAMING babies and CRYING kids. But don't worry, no children hurt in the making of this video. This Japanese festival has continued for generations. Parents love to take their kids. It makes them grow up brave and strong and tough. Don't forget, the parents taking their kids were taken by their parents too. Don't take it too seriously, it's just fun and everyone ended up having a great time. The dancers you see are part of the Kagura dance team. The Japanese kagura dance is famous in this area and it lasted for hours (I'll make another video from that footage when I have time).
This shrine was built in the very old days (around the 6th century). It's famous for a tiny doll costume festival and a puppet dance dating from the year 1420. It's held every 4 years so isn't shown on this video. We'll be there next time (2020) to shoot.
We filmed this in deepest darkest Kyushu (Japan's most amazing island). This festival takes places at a local shrine Hachiman Kohyo Jinja Shrine (八幡古表神社) Yoshitomi-machi, Chikujo-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan.
You won't see any tourists there except maybe me, filming. Want to join next year? Get in touch with us. Bring your kids if you think they can handle it!!
It's a general summer festival and doesn't have a specific name.
