New Year's in Sendai, Osaki Hachiman-gu Shrine.m4v
I visited the big shrine where everyone goes to make a prayer for the coming year. The traffic was crazy, with queues a long way down the road. When I got inside it was just as busy. Have a look and I'll describe all the cool things I see. Cos I'm nice like that.
You could watch this video... or you could do something far more worthwhile, and far more entertaining, and go and buy my book of short stories from here: or from Amazon.
It's called 'Not All Of Them About Zombies' and features a selection of my best fantasy, horror and comedy shorts. If you like that then check out my website too. It could do with some visitors to validate my frequent blogging. Thanks.

Usa Jingu - Oita - 宇佐神宮 - 4K Ultra HD
Also known as Usa Hachimangu or 宇佐八幡宮 in Japanese, is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Usa in Oita prefecture. Founded during the Nara period Usa Jingu has a complex history.
Indeed it is believed that the first foundation of the shrine took place during the Wado era (708-714). Later in 779 a temple called Miroku-ji was built next to Usa Jingu’s first foundation creating a mixed complex now known as Usa Hachimangu-ji or the Usa Hachiman Shrine Temple making the first Shinto and Buddhist temple in Japan. It was in 1868 that the Buddhist part of Usa Hachimangu-ji was removed in order to comply the Shinbutsu Bunri or the Kami and Buddhas Separation Act where Buddhism was considered as a foreign imported religion and influence against the Japanese native Shinto religion.
Usa Jingu suffered many attacks in the past and was totally destroyed in the 16th century by the lord of Funai Otomo Yoshishige a Christian sympathizer.

Located along the east side of the Izu peninsula, Jogasaki is a small yet beautiful coast of the peninsula's coast. Famous for its lighthouse and suspension bridge, Jogasaki is also offering a nice 1h long hiking trail giving you a beautiful view of the area, as well as the huge Oshima Island. With its many palm trees and lava rocks coming from the now extinct Mt Omuro Volcana, Jogasaki Coast is all year long a spot that you definitely need to check if you ever travel around Izu!

This time, I focused on the country side in Japan.

Yamanouchi, Shimotakai District, Nagano Prefecture
I took this video around 4pm on a hillside in this lovely little town. We were there to see the macaques in the Jigokudani Monkey Park. We ended up staying a couple nights to enjoy all the onsens or hot spring baths. Great place to relax and unwind from the city life.
Furusato matsuri 2016 in Tokyo Dome
Not a vlog, no intrusive faces or narrations, pure Japan only.
Festival presents products from all parts of Japan. There is also scene with different musical and dancer collectives.
In 2016 festival dates were from Jan 7 to Jan 15.
Tokyo Dome location
I forgot my other zoom lens to take the scene better and it was too crowded to take stalls properly :(.
Entrance fee is 1600yen and IMHO what you get is not worth its price. Yes, there is dance show, but until you pay separately for booked ticket you have to sit 100m from the scene. The worst thing is only half seats are used by people other half is used for someones belongings for more than 30 minutes at least. After spending a lot of time looking for overpriced food you can spend another 15-30 minutes looking for place to eat it.
Filmed in UltraHD 4K with Lumix GH4 camera and Beholder DS-1 stabilizer. Feel free to correct my English or suggest a video to film.
82. Sakura in Mikamine Park at Nishitaga, Sendai, Miyagi, Tohoku, Japan
Sakura in Mikamine Park at Nishitaga, Sendai, Miyagi, Tohoku, Japan. Bike ride in the Mikamine Park in Sendai City. A beautiful, sunny day made me a trip to the Mikamine Park - wonderfully located - on a hilltop - park with magnificent cherry trees. It was a very windy day, and the driveway was steep, but I do not regret. For such sights and sensations I falled in love in Japan as a teenager. There's nothing I'm saying. I invite you to ride through the Mikamine Park in Sendai City.
