青森市営バスの旅 前編 Bus trip in Aomori Japan

久しぶりに「バスの旅」を行いました。今回は青森県青森市の青森市営バスを利用します。１日目は三内丸山遺跡・後潟・西部営業所などをめぐりました。青森市営バスは新車の導入を積極的に進めているようで、土日は最新型の４気筒AMT車が積極的に充当されている印象です。青森市自体がコンパクトな街ですので、バスで様々な場所を巡るのは比較的容易な気がします。

JR Aomori Station, Aomori City

JR Aomori Station is located in Aomori City and along with JR Shin Aomori Station is the gateway to the Aomori City.

While JR Shin Aomori Station provides access to both Shinkansen and JR Lines, JR Aomori Station only services regular JR lines.

But if you are visiting Aomori city, make sure that you book your hotel around Aomori Station because this is where the downtown and the shopping districts are. Also, it has a full service bus stop to take you to various places within Aomori City. Enjoy.

일본 혼슈섬 북쪽 끝에 자리 잡은 아오모리현은 ‘푸른 나무숲’이라는 의미처럼 대자연의 아름다움을 만끽할 수 있는 곳이다. 겨울에 눈이 많이 오기로 유명하며, 일본 제일의 사과 수확량을 자랑하는 곳이기도 하다. 나는 우선 역 앞에서 출발해 중심가를 따라 걷기로 했다. 왼쪽 항구 방향에 독특하게 생긴 건물이 눈에 띈다. 알파벳 ‘A’를 본 따 디자인된 15층 높이의 ‘아오모리현 관광물산관’은 도시의 랜드마크 역할을 하고 있다. 1층엔 이 지역의 대표 특산물과 공예품 등을 모아놓은 쇼핑가가 자리잡고 있다. 삼면이 바다로 둘러싸인 지역인 만큼 해산물이 풍부하다. 그중 가리비는 탱탱한 육질과 개운하고 단맛을 자랑하는 아오모리의 대표 해산물이다. 그밖에 다양한 해산물을 재료로 한 가공식품들이 판매되고 있다. 일본 전체 사과 생산량의 절반을 차지하는 지역답게 사과로 만든 가공품들이 아주 많다. 아예 사과 하나를 통째로 구운 사과파이가 재미있다. 사과나무를 재료로 한 손수건, 주머니에 화장품까지...정말 사과로 만들 수 있는 건 여기에 다 있다. 한쪽에 자리 잡은 파이가게에서 나는 달콤한 냄새.갓 구운 파이의 유혹을 뿌리치기 어렵다. 건물 꼭대기의 전망대에 올랐다. 아담한 시내가 한 눈에 들어온다. 아오모리의 상징물 중 하나인 베이브릿지. 바다에 면한 산책길에는 20년 전까지 홋카이도를 오갔던 연락선이 지금은 전시관으로 변신해 있다.

Mutsu City, Aomori Japan Experience

As huge fans of Japanese food and produce, we were honoured to have been invited to Mutsu City, in Aomori Japan to experience the fresh produce directly from the source. We visited Kaikyo Salmon, where we were showed how the fishermen catch and process salmon into their sashimi products.

At Kawauchi Fisherman’s Association, we also got to see how they produced top quality dried scallops and other seafood.

Other than seafood, we also drove down to Sun Mamoru Winery, where good weather and fine grapes resulted in the making of quality wine. Or even Tonamigaoka Farm, where dozens of cows are housed to produce fresh dairy produce for people all around.

One thing we are sure to say is that the producers take great pride in their craft, in the making fresh and quality produce.
