Half an Hour at (100) - Hadlow Road Station 11.4.2015 - Wirral Willaston Hooton

Final stop of my afternoon on the Wirral, had to be somewhere special for the 100th Half an Hour at... And strangely somewhere which hasn't seen trains for decades. This is a location I've wanted to go to for a while. Hadlow Road Station stands on the former Hooton and West Kirby line which is now the Wirral Country Park. This station is in Willaston, a small village on the Wirral, near Chester. In the 1960's it was renovated by the local council into the condition it was in when it shut in the 1950s. Highlights of the visit are the signal box and the original booking office. It's well worth a trip but in the meantime enjoy a video tour around this old station.

We are on the Wirral Way a dedicated cycle /horse riding and Walkerist route from Hooton Wirral To west Kirby Wirral, along the trackbed of a disused Railway line.
Little known fact, the station is called Hadlow Road, not Willaston, because there is another station in Cheshire called Wistaston.

Hadlow Station

Hadlow Road railway station is a Grade II listed heritage railway station museum located in Willaston and on the Wirral Way footpath. It has been restored to have the look and feel of the day the station was permanently closed to passengers in 1956. It has an authentic ticket office, waiting room and telephone box. Formerly the museum was a working railway station on the single track Hooton to West Kirby branch of the Birkenhead Railway, on the Wirral Peninsula, Cheshire. The station is owned by Cheshire West and Chester Council and maintained by The Friends of Hadlow Road.
