Hadlow Tower Folly, Kent
The Tallest and Largest Folly in England the 170ft Hadlow Tower was commissioned by Walter May. Known localy as May's Folly it was built over a number of years from late 1780's. Built in an ornate Gothic style. Restored in resent years with grants from English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Grade I listed tower was commissioned by wealthy businessman Walter May because he suspected his wife was sleeping with a local farmer and wanted to keep his eye on her.
The tower was designed by naval architect George Ledwell Taylor and stands 175 ft tall, higher than Nelson’s Column.
The towermay be remembered by some for its shady past, where it was said to be the county’s prime location for adult parties: from 1999 to 2011, the home was hired out for all types of events, from fetish festivities to swinger socials. Illicit activities inside the tower were revealed when a reporter from the now defunct News of the Worldpaper managed to infiltrate one of the parties.

Tonbridge Castle
Following the Norman Conquest, Richard Fitz Gilbert was granted land in Kent to guard the crossing of the River Medway. He erected a simple Motte-and-bailey castle on the site. To dig the moat and erect the motte 50,000 tonnes of earth were moved. In 1088, the de Clare family (descendants of Fitz Gilbert) rebelled against King William II.

Hadlow Castle was an 18th-century country house in Hadlow, Kent, England, built in the fashionable Strawberry Hill 'Gothic' style. The house was gradually enlarged and extended during the 19th century and finally demolished in the 20th, apart from a prospect tower and ancillary buildings. The surviving Grade I Listed Hadlow Tower, locally known as May's Folly, was restored in 2013.

PAYE Ltd has restored Hadlow Tower constructed in 1838 as a folly attached to an 18th century Gothic castle. This 44 metre high tower was the first Roman cement building in Britain on this scale to be repaired using a natural cement. The video shows the reinstatement of a moulded cornice built using traditional techniques and craft skills completed in just 3 hours demonstrating the quick setting properties of the material.
