Busan, South Korea Vlog: Gamcheon Cultural Village, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, Haeundae Beach
I recently visited Korea's second largest city located along the coast: Busan. I packed a lot into two days, though barely scratched the surface of things to do in Busan. Some of the highlights include Gamcheon Cultural Village, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, Haeundae Beach, Jagalchi Fish Market, and Waveon Coffee.
Haedong Yonggunsa Temple Busan, South Korea
Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is situated on the coast of the north-eastern portion of Busan. This superb attraction offers visitors the rare find of a temple along the shore line; most temples in Korea are located in the mountains. Haedong Yonggungsa Temple was first built in 1376 by the great Buddhist teacher known as Naong during the Goryeo Dynasty. Haesu Gwaneum Daebul (Seawater Great Goddess Buddha), Daeungjeon Main Sanctuary, Yongwangdang Shrine, Gulbeop Buddhist Sanctum (enclosed in a cave), and a three-story pagoda with four lions can all be seen looking out over the ocean.

Haedong Yonggungsa Temple (해동 용궁사) - Busan/South Korea
After being to Beomeosa Temple on the slopes of Mt. Geumjeongsan it was time to complete the perfect circle of Feng Shui on one day and head over to Haedong Yonggungsa, Temple by the Sea.
We took metro again to Jangsan station (201) and from there it was easiest and fastest to take a taxi for another 10-15 minutes until arriving at the temple.
Haedong Yonggung Temple (Hangul: 해동 용궁사) is a Buddhist temple in Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea. The temple was built in 1376 by the teacher known as Naong during the Goryeo Dynasty. The temple complex is a large one and one of few in Korea to be set on the seaside. As such, combined with its proximity to Haeundae Beach and the east side of Busan, the temple is popular with sightseers, particularly during Buddha's Birthday celebrations when the complex is decorated with paper lanterns.

We are originally from the USA we left home in 2013 after graduating college. We then returned back to the US a year later to build a normal life. We quickly discovered that it wasn’t for us and left home for good in 2015. We were nomadic for over three years across six continents and 80 countries. It took us 500 blog posts, thousands of nights in different beds, a few horrible meals and tons of amazing ones until we chose to base ourselves in the Canadian Rockies. Now we travel for half the year and explore the mountains for the other half. We are incredibly grateful for the life we live and hope we can help you meet your travel goals too!

Busan, South Korea - Gamcheon Culture Village & Haedong Yonggungsa Temple (Best spots in Busan)
Looking for a city to pack in as much adventure, exploration, and relaxation as possible? Busan might be just the place you’re looking for. My favorite spots experienced while exploring Busan were Gamcheon Culture Village and Haedong Yonggungsa Temple.
Gamcheon Culture Village is like diving into a child’s toy box filled with Legos, actions figures, and other vibrantly colored toys, but as a city on a steep mountain!
Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is unlike any temple I’ve ever experienced before and was established to honor the Goddess of Mercy. It’s beauty is unique and peaceful as it overlooks to Pacific Ocean.
In this video I’ve show you around these amazing Busan attractions and provide some tips for on what cannot be missed!

Haedong Yonggungsa Temple in Busan 해동 용둥사
Our trip to Haedong Yonggungsa Temple in Busan. June 2016. Buddhist temple at the sea side in Busan with beautiful scenery and the sounds of waves. Peaceful.
Visit The Magnificent Yonggungsa Seaside Temple Busan, South Korea
Most Korean temples are located in the mountains but Yonggungsa was uniquely built in 1376 along the sea.
Walk down 108 steps (like the 108 Buddhist prayer beads), and pray in one of the many different sanctuaries for health, education, etc., and wealth. I really believe my fervent prayers that the stock market would rise to the large gold Buddha of wealth helped. And don't leave without praying to the gold pigs for good luck; there's no such thing as too much good luck...

Haedong Yonggung Temple in Busan South Korea
Haedong Yonggung Temple is built on the NE coast of Busan Most South Korean temples are built in mountain areas, so this one is quite unusual. Walk the 108 stairs to the Golden Buddha and the 3 storey pagoda. Stone lanterns line the rocky landscape. Catch the 1018 bus from Busan metro station. Background music is Pluto by Topher Mohr and Alex Elena.
