Hagi Iwami Airport Honey
✈Big Wings and Small Wings????
We have three airports within Shimane and one is a little different from the rest.
It has bees! Since April of 2016 the airport has been tending to the bees and making Airport honey. It isn't only just the first airport to keep bees on property in Japan, but the first airport in all of Asia.
What is airport honey? Airport honey is made from bees that are kept on the airport grounds, specifically on the outskirts in a buffer zone limiting their contact with the airport users. Because the taste of the honey depends on the surrounding environment of the bees, the unique environment at this airport gives the honey a unique taste. In 2017 the Airport Honey of Hagi-Iwami Airport won double awards in the Honey Meister Honey of the Year contest in 2017.
Hagi-Iwami airport currently services two flights daily to and from Tokyo and sells its airport honey from a small booth at the airport as well as offering some dishes made with airport honey at the airport restaurant.

Subscribe link :
Tokoji Temple (東光寺) is located in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Visitors can find its magnificent wooden temple buildings within the forest located east of downtown Hagi. It was founded in 1691and belongs to the Obaku school of Japanese Zen Buddhism.
Most temples of the Obaku sect display an architectural style that has more Chinese features than that of the average Japanese temple. Tokoji Temple is no different. Visitors will notice this right away upon entering the temple through its Chinese style, red entrance gate. Visitors will pass under an even larger wooden gate, the Sanmon Gate, and an old bell tower on their way to the main hall. Further evidence of Chinese Zen architecture style is evident in the Tokoji’s main hall which houses a statue of the historic Buddha (Shaka Nyorai).
An impressive graveyard can be seen behind the temple buildings. Here lies the graveyard of half of the Mori daimyo (feudal lords). The Mori daimyo governed Hagi during the Edo Period (1603-1868). The odd numbered successors of the Mori lords were buried here at Tokoji Temple and the first and even numbered lords were buried at Daishoin Temple. With Tokoji Temple being located in the woods, the atmosphere is quite tranquil and serene.
Access Information:
Tokoji Temple is located about two kilometers southeast of Higashi-Hagi Station.

Japan Trip: The Past and the Future at Hagi Museum, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Hagi Town 31 Moopon
Located on the delta of the Abu River facing the Sea of Japan, Hagi is a well preserved historic town, with its samurai heritage and beautiful Hagiyaki Pottery. Visitors interested in Hagi’s rich past are advised to visit Hagi Museum.
Built in 2004, the museum is centered on the concept of “Hagiology.” Hagiology has many sub-themes such as nature, culture, history and so on, as Hagi is rich with all these elements and more. Within the museum, visitors can examine historic artifacts and view the displays. As Hagi is home to many famous characters of Japanese history, such as Yoshida Shoin (a key player in shaping Japan’s future pre-Meiji Restoration), there are also displays about them here as well. And English information is available.
There is a gift shop within the museum with local souvenirs such as summer tangerine. Books about local historic figures as well as Hagi original items are available here. In addition to the gift shop, there is a restaurant within the museum as well. Dishes include local Hagi meat and seafood entrees. Visitors with a sweet tooth may opt for the summer tangerine ice cream which is supposedly served only here.

24 Oras: Philippines to drive away foreign ships intruding its territory
After the reported intrusions of Chinese warships, the Philippines said it would drive away foreign vessels passing through its territorial waters without permission.
At a press briefing, presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said President Rodrigo Duterte wants passing foreign vessels to seek permission first, adding non-compliance may force the Philippine government to act in an unfriendly manner.

Kyoto Festival: Plum Blossom Festival at Kitano Tenmangū (Baikasai)
An event that combines Shinto spirituality, seasonal plum blossoms, delicious green tea, and lovely maiko and geiko, Kitano Tenmangū's Baikasai (Plum Blossom Festival) on February 25th is a must-see for anyone lucky enough to be in Kyoto!
Geisha from the Kamishichiken District turn out in colorful kimono and sporting plum-themed hair accesories, serving tea in an outdoor ceremony. This nodate (outdoor tea ceremony) is particularly popular with Kyoto citizens and tourists alike, as it is an opportunity not just to see a geisha up close, but to be served tea and even exchange a few words. These traditional Kyoto idols are popular worldwide for their grace and beauty, but most people do not have the connections in order to actually spend time in their company at a teahouse or a banquet. But at the Baikasai, a ticket worth 1,500 yen secures your entry to the outdoor tea ceremony, which comes with a traditional sweet, a cup of tea, and a chance to see these culture-preserving women at work. However, be warned that the serving cap is set at 3,000, and the ceremony is only conducted from 10:00 to 15:00.
Each year the Baikasai is held in order to remember Sugawara no Michizane on the anniversary of his passing, when the shrine performs important rites in order to remember pacify his deific spirit Tenjin within the main hall. Thousands of people turn out to pray at the shrine on this day, as well as enjoy the tea ceremony, the Tenjin-san flea market, and the lovely plum blossom orchard.
