Black Powder and the DuPont Family Home - Hagley Museum & Library - Wilmington, Delaware
The beautiful home of the DuPont Family and the amazing living history museum and library surrounding the mansion made for a fun day of exploring in Delaware. The kids learned all about black powder, steam engines, mills, and simple machines while touring the property. The amazing staff provided demonstrations and tours and answered all of our questions as we moved from one area to the next. A handy bus carried us around the property. We loved our time exploring here and were impressed with all there was to see and do!

Charles Lindbergh in Wilmington, Delaware (1927)
On October 21, 1927, Charles Lindbergh visited Wilmington, Delaware on a nationwide tour following his historic trip across the Atlantic Ocean from New York to Paris.
Willard S. Wilson, a local broadcast journalist and early radio pioneer, captured footage of the day on his 16mm camera. In 1977, Hagley Museum & Library staff recorded an interview with Wilson that included a description of his footage as well as other insights about the day the legendary aviator visited the first state.
This video includes the film as it was captured in 1927 synced with the description provided by Mr Wilson in 1977.
The Lindbergh footage is part of the Audiovisual Collection at the Hagley Library. Link to the full interview with Willard Wilson:
