England - Homage to Airmen of WWII
The Imperial War Museum at Duxford is the premier aviation museum in Europe. The airfield was opened for the First World War, and saw heavy service during World War II, first as an RAF fighter station, and later as an American fighter base. Vintage planes are exhibited both inside and outside, as well as flying in and out of Duxford with regularity. In addition to British exhibits, an American museum was added in 1997 to honor the 30,000 American airmen who died. After Duxford, we went to the Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial where 3,812 of those American military are buried, then on to Ramsgate in Kent, where another smaller British aviation museum houses Spitfires and Hurricanes.

Parham Airfield Museum Framlingham Suffolk
After the War in Europe, runways were broken up and buildings were allowed to become dilapidated and, when not pulled apart, were used for farm storage. Among them was the Control Tower, shot up and abandoned after the Americans held a riotous farewell party there in August 1945, Framlingham Station 153, as the 390th bomb group knew the airfield now stood neglected, windowless and derelict. A five year restoration programme began, using volunteer labour and funded from their own resources and the Tower was finally dedicated as the 390th Bombardment Group Memorial Air Museum of the USAAF on 13th May 1981. The museum comprises the 390th Bombardment Group Memorial Air Museum and the Museum of the British Resistance Organisation operating under one Management Committee. It's continued existence relies on volunteer support and donations to help with maintenance necessary to ensure continued preservation of the building and it's contents. This film was shot on 07.06.09.
