**CT Tea Party Fences With President Obama** Stamford, CT (2) Sept. 16, 2010
Bob MacGuffie, a CT Tea Party veteran, thrusts sharp words to foil President Obama's vist to Stamford, as the signs of the times banner the chain link fence behind the tea partieers. A sidewalk across from the Stamford Marriott Hotel served as the battle line Thursday afternoon, September 16, 2010, when common sense took a stand against the President of the United States and his pal, Richard Blumenthal.
Democrat Blumenthal is attempting to win the US Senate seat, being vacated by the retiring Chris Dodd, a victim of his own arrogant incompetence! Obama has jinxed every Democrat for over a year. His appearances supporting Democrats resulted in their defeat at the polls. It's the one thing Conservatives are thrilled about the President!!

Hartford is the capital city of Connecticut. It was the seat of Hartford County until Connecticut disbanded county government in 1960. The city is nicknamed the Insurance Capital of the World, as it hosts many insurance company headquarters and is the region's major industry. It is the core city in the Greater Hartford area of Connecticut.
Hartford was founded in 1635 and is among the oldest cities in the United States. It is home to the nation's oldest public art museum (Wadsworth Atheneum), the oldest publicly funded park (Bushnell Park), the oldest continuously published newspaper (the Hartford Courant), and the second-oldest secondary school (Hartford Public High School). It also is home to Trinity College, a private liberal arts college, and the Mark Twain House where the author wrote his most famous works and raised his family, among other historically significant attractions. Mark Twain wrote in 1868, Of all the beautiful towns it has been my fortune to see this is the chief.
Hartford was the richest city in the United States for several decades following the American Civil War. Today, it is one of the poorest cities in the nation, with 3 out of every 10 families living below the poverty threshold. In sharp contrast, the Greater Hartford metropolitan area is ranked 32nd of 318 metropolitan areas in total economic production and 8th out of 280 metropolitan statistical areas in per capita income.Census estimates since the 2010 United States Census have indicated that Hartford is the fourth-largest city in Connecticut, behind the coastal cities of Bridgeport, New Haven, and Stamford.

Nissan Leaf Discount Drive Green Event at Nissan of New Rochelle | Westchester County Sustainable NY
Joe McLaughlin recently checked out an all-electric Nissan Leaf painted with the slogan “see how it feels to #kickgas.”
After a test drive in New Rochelle, he said he was weighing that advice — through a limited-time incentive in Westchester County that can slash thousands of dollars from the car’s sticker price and slice another $7,500 off taxes. Taken together, someone can land a Leaf at about half-price.
“I’d be able to buy a new car for something I bought used,” said McLaughlin, of Yonkers, outside Nissan of New Rochelle, the dealer that is a key partner in the incentive program.
The program is by non-profit Sustainable Westchester, an organization made up of more than 40 member cities, towns and villages that notched agreement with Nissan that provides a $10,000 Sustainable Westchester discount. Plus there's a $1,700 New York State rebate. Then, at tax time, a buyer can get a $7,500 federal tax credit.
The Sustainable Westchester incentive ends Sept. 30 or if the cars are sold out before that.
Of about 400 Nissan Leafs available for the discount, there are under 350 left. A Leaf normally sells for roughly $33,000 to $34,000.
Officials said the incentive is open to people who live in, work in or are a student in any of the Sustainable Westchester communities, which span places such as Yonkers and Bronxville in the south to Peekskill and Somers in the north. To apply, fill out a form online at the Sustainable Westchester website. Officials say people should bring the flyer and a copy of their utility bills to Nissan of New Rochelle — use fleet certification code G66970.
The teaming up of the auto industry with an organization that seeks energy alternatives may be a sign of the times. Electric and hybrid cars seemed to have gained marketplace traction, with news reports that sales have grown. One statistic showed 15 percent of the state's electric car owners live in the Lower Hudson Valley.
“It does show some sort of change in the landscape, I think that’s fair, ” Dan Welsh, program director of Sustainable Westchester’s Westchester Power program, said of such cooperation.
Sustainable Westchester, founded in 2014, first entered the lives of many residents who flipped on electricity in their homes last year. Twenty cities, towns and villages agreed to be part of the Westchester Power program and their residents could receive a fixed electricity rate. Residents could also choose to opt out of Westchester Power.
This June, the car proposal kicked into gear. Ron Kamen, Sustainable Westchester's Clean Transportation Project director, requested proposals and Nissan of New Rochelle came back with an offer and became official partner with Sustainable Westchester.
Sustainable Westchester views the Leaf as the first of more electric-car discounts. Negotiations are ongoing with BMW and Chevrolet. Kamen said one goal is to secure discounts and marketing with most of the 31 different makes and models of electric vehicles.
Anthony Panarella, Nissan of New Rochelle's owner and president, said Nissan nationally wants to broaden awareness of its electric cars and one way to do that is by putting a great incentive on the model.
“I can even run down to a meeting in Mamaroneck and still make it home,” he said of the Leaf, without recharging it.
Oil changes are among burdens that go away, while a few staples such as brake replacement still apply.
“We never had any maintenance other than swapping the tires once,” Welsh said of the Leaf. “For people that can work it into their lives, it’s a great deal.”
Forty-one Westchester County cities, villages and towns — plus the county government/departments —currently participate in Sustainable Westchester, which has teamed with Nissan of New Rochelle to offer a limited-time discount on the all-electric Nissan Leaf:

Michael Lee Aday (born Marvin Lee Aday; September 27, 1947) is an American musician and actor best known by his stage name Meat Loaf. He is noted for the Bat Out of Hell album trilogy consisting of Bat Out of Hell, Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose and his powerful vocals over a three-octave range. Bat Out of Hell has sold more than 43 million copies worldwide. After 35 years, it still sells an estimated 200,000 copies annually and stayed on the charts for over nine years, making it one of the best selling albums of all time.
Although he enjoyed success with Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell and earned a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the song I'd Do Anything for Love on the latter album, Meat Loaf experienced some initial difficulty establishing a steady career within his native US. However, he has retained iconic status and popularity in Europe, especially the UK, where he ranks 23rd for the number of weeks overall spent on the charts as of 2006. He ranked 96th on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.

SUMMARY
=======
German Americans (German: Deutschamerikaner) are Americans who have full or partial German ancestry. With an estimated size of approximately 44 million in 2016, German Americans are the largest of the self-reported ancestry groups by the US Census Bureau in its American Community Survey. German-Americans account for about one third of the total ethnic German population in the world.None of the German states had American colonies. In the 1670s, the first significant groups of German immigrants arrived in the British colonies, settling primarily in Pennsylvania, New York, and Virginia. Immigration continued in very large numbers during the 19th century, with eight million arrivals from Germany. Between 1820 and 1870 over seven and a half million German immigrants came to the United States. By 2010, their population grew to 49.8 million German Americans, reflecting a jump of 6 million people since 2000.
There is a German belt that extends all the way across the United States, from eastern Pennsylvania to the Oregon coast. Pennsylvania has the largest population of German-Americans in the U.S. and is home to one of the group's original settlements, Germantown (Philadelphia), founded in 1683 and the birthplace of the American antislavery movement in 1688, as well as the revolutionary Battle of Germantown. The state of Pennsylvania has 3.5 million people of German ancestry.
They were pulled by the attractions of land and religious freedom, and pushed out of Germany by shortages of land and religious or political oppression. Many arrived seeking religious or political freedom, others for economic opportunities greater than those in Europe, and others for the chance to start fresh in the New World. The arrivals before 1850 were mostly farmers who sought out the most productive land, where their intensive farming techniques would pay off. After 1840, many came to cities, where Germania—German-speaking districts—soon emerged.German Americans established the first kindergartens in the United States, introduced the Christmas tree tradition, and introduced popular foods such as hot dogs and hamburgers to America. The great majority of people with some German ancestry have become Am ...
