Halifax is a minster town in the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale in West Yorkshire, England. The town has been a centre of woollen manufacture from the 15th century onward, originally dealing through the Piece Hall. This film features views around Halifax town centre, and was made in early March, 2018, during a spell of unseasonably cold weather, known as 'The Beast from the East', which brought plummeting temperatures, ice and snow. Hence the scenery within the film is quite snowy in places.

Halifax, West Yorkshire is our home town but I've never done a video of it until now.
Thanks to the BBC drama Gentleman Jack, about Halifax-born industrialist, Anne Lister, this small Yorkshire town is back on the map!

Shibden Hall is a Grade II* listed historic house located in a public park at Shibden, West Yorkshire, England. The building has been extensively modified from its original design by generations of residents, although its Tudor half-timbered frontage remains its most recognisable feature.
One of its most notable residents was Anne Lister who inherited the hall from a relative. Lister has been described as being the first modern lesbian due to her many affairs with women in the 19th century. Its also a filming location, for the BBC tv series Gentlemen Jack

Anne Lister was an English landowner and diarist from Halifax, West Yorkshire. Throughout her life, she kept diaries that chronicled the details of her daily life, including her lesbian relationships, her financial concerns, her industrial activities, and her work improving Shibden Hall. Armistice Day Poppy Exhibition at Halifax Town Hall, West Yorkshire
A Great Poppy Exhibition is on display at Halifax Town Hall until November 12 as part of Calderdale's commemoration of the centenary of the armistice.
The Armistice of November 11, 1918 was the agreement that ended fighting on land, sea and air in World War I between the Allies and Germany.
Thousands of poppies of all styles and forms were created by the public to represent the lives lost in Calderdale during the First World War and are on display now. Organiser Marilyn Greenwood hopes the project will become the biggest UK exhibition of poppies ever.
Exhibits will be judged by the Mayor and Mayoress of Calderdale.
