In today’s VLOG, travel to Mount Hallasan Volcano in the venter of Jeju island, and hike to the crater at the top. Mount Hallasan is the tallest mountain completely inside South Korea, and rises to 1950m. A nice day hike to the top and a chance to get some great views of the island. Hallasan - South Korea's Highest Mountain
Jeju Island's Mount Hallasan in South Korea is on a must-hike to do list when visiting Jeju Island. Word of advice, make sure you guys leave early, there's an initial checkpoint regardless of which trail you take that must be reached by 13:00 (1:00pm), otherwise the park rangers will turn you away.
Normally there's supposedly an awesome crater at the very top of the summit, but it was so damn foggy that we couldn't see it at all :(

Hiking the HIGHEST MOUNTAIN in South Korea
Today we're hiking up Hallasan, South Korea's highest mountain! Hallasan is a shield volcano and is surrounded by a national park. As recommended by our taxi driver, we take the Yeongsil Course up and Eorimok Course back down. For those wanting to reach the peak, arrive before 8am so you have time to get back down before sunset (also advised by the taxi driver). Just sharing tips from a local :)

Last weekend we were on Jeju Island, an island that is south for Busan. I didn't get to experience that much there due to little time, but I got to experience a very beautiful park and to see the Cheonjiyeon falls. We also went up the Hallasan mountain, but I had to turn around after just one hour. To know why, please see the video. The park was definitely one of the biggest highlights of the short trip and it's also where I filmed the most. Hope you enjoy it!

I didn't make it to the top because we started the hike late and wasn't allowed access to the upper half of the mountain. None the less, the hike was breathtaking! Please enjoy the vid! Halla Mountain has several different trails leading to the top. I decided to hike Korea's tallest mountain for my 30th birthday and it was great! It was a beautiful hike and was a great time for me to reflect on my 20's as I move into my 30's. If you are visiting Jeju island, I highly recommend hiking up Halla mountain! There are beautiful views with a great workout! ; )

How to Jeju in 4 Days | JEJU ISLAND| Sept 2017
Day 1
Went to climb Mount Hallasan. I took the Seongpanak trail (9.6km) up and Gwaneumsa trail (8.7km) trail down. It was a total of around 4-5 hour hike but was totally worth it.
Day 2
Went to Jeongbang waterfalls, Cheongjiyeon waterfalls, Jusangjeollidae cliffs, and a walk around Seongwipo Maeil Olleh Market in the evening.
Day 3
I went back to Jeju City. I then took the bus to Manjanggul Lava tube cave and chilled at Jimnyeon Beach
Day 4
I took a ferry over to Udo Island and spent half a day there. Didn't feel like walking so I took the tour bus. But the tour was in Korean.
And in the afternoon I climbed Seongsan Ilchulbong. Highly recommended.
If you travel in a large group, I would highly recommend to rent a car because it cuts the travelling time down by alot compare to taking a bus. But if you are travelling alone, then the bus in Jeju is very convenient and there is wifi in the bus, which makes it even greater!

Hike Hallasan Mountain on Jeju Island - gwaneumsa trail Part 1
This summer, Fireese and I went to South Korea. While there we visited Jeju Island. On the island is South Korea's tallest mountain (technically a volcano). Fireese and I decided to climb it. There are two trails to the top, Gwaneumsa and Seongpanak Trails. We had heard the Gwaneumsa trail was the hardest but had the best views so we decided to walk up that trail and down the Seongpanak one. We didn't train for this hike (stupidly) and didn't realize how crazy hard it was going to be. This is the first half of our journey up the mountain. We hope you enjoy coming along with us!

Hiking Hallasan Mountain - Jeju Island
Hallasan is a shield volcano on Jeju Island of South Korea. It is the highest mountain in South Korea with elevation is 1947.06 m. The area around the mountain is a designated national park, the Hallasan National Park (Hallasan Gungnip Gongwon). Hallasan is commonly considered to be one of the three main mountains of South Korea, along with Jirisan and Seoraksan.

I decided to hike the Seonpanak trail to Mount Hallasan, since it was the one of the 2 only trails that will lead to the summit. I came from a tropical country and never had any snow experience before. Turns out to the station is very beautiful with the snow covered trees along the road. From Feb to Mar, the snow was rather deep.
It was estimated to take 9 hours and I did it. I gotta say this hike is one of the more vigorous hikes I have done and requires a very good pair of hiking shoes, you must wear proper trekking clothes and shoes.
Once you reach the top there is a rest area with toilets and an area to rest. I suggest for those that plan to do this bring water, snacks, drink so you can enjoy the views once you get to the top and plastic bag to throw your rubbish. You must bring down your rubbish with you.
