Hallasan 한라산 Jeju Island Korea - Hiking During the Spring Time
Hiking Hallasan during the spring time is one of the best times to hike the mountain! The weather is not too hot and not too cold, just right. Hallasan is a must do attraction if you are visiting Jeju Island. There are four main trails you can take up the mountain. Each trail on Hallasan has a different level of difficulty. We hiked up the easiest trail of Seongpanak and hiked down the most difficult trail of Gwaneumsa. Hallasan also has a long history on Jeju Island and is revered by locals as a truly magical mountain.

Amanda and I were very excited to hike up Hallasan Jeju, South Korea. The mountain is almost 2000 meters tall and is actually a VOLCANO!!!! that last erupted in 1000 A.D. Come take a look at the amazing scenery, it was spectacular hiking during the summer!

Happy days!
I want to share with you one of the beautiful and maybe essential experiences that you can do or you should do in Jeju Island. Yeah, It's a Hallasan experience.
I went to MT Halla which is the highest mountain in South Korea on the 28th of October last year. There are a few ways to reach the peak. The way I got there and came back was around 18.3 km. Yeah, It was not easy. No, it was freaking hard for me haha. At that time, my legs and back felt so bad after hiking. But I am glad to reach a peak of Hallasan. It was so beautiful and fantastic. On the way to hiking, I was passing people who were coming back from halfway through. But it didn't make me give up.
I experienced two different trails which are Gwaneumsa Trail (North) and Seongpanak Trail (East). You can see a whole lot of spectacular scenery through these trails. It takes me about 9 hours altogether.

Hiking Hallasan National Park, Jeju Island, South Korea
April 5th 2018. Ascending Seongpanak trail and descending Gwaneumsa trail - total distance 18,3 km.
Hallasan is the highest mountain in South Korea and has an elevation of 1,950 m. According to Wikipedia (16 April 2018) people believed that Hallasan was inhabited by gods and spirits. It certainely felt like we were surrounded by magical creatures during our time there.

We were not a hiker, for a start.
Instead of choosing sunbathing or exploring new cities during our anniversary-moon, we decided to try something else.
He said let’s go to Jeju Island, South Korea earlier this year and I said yes.
But he didn’t know I planned to hike the Hallasan Mouintain during our visit there. ????
The struggle was real, because we were beginner and we were not prepared with the cold weather.
however, the view was masyaAllah, simply astounding.
And that’s how our adventure started.

Hike Hallasan Mountain on Jeju Island - gwaneumsa trail Part 2
Part 2 of 2 - This summer, Fireese and I went to South Korea. While there we visited Jeju Island. On the island is South Korea's tallest mountain (technically a volcano). Fireese and I decided to climb it. There are two trails to the top, Gwaneumsa and Seongpanak Trails. We had heard the Gwaneumsa trail was the hardest but had the best views so we decided to walk up that trail and down the Seongpanak one. We didn't train for this hike (stupidly) and didn't realize how crazy hard it was going to be. This is the first half of our journey up the mountain. We hope you enjoy coming along with us!

How to Jeju in 4 Days | JEJU ISLAND| Sept 2017
Day 1
Went to climb Mount Hallasan. I took the Seongpanak trail (9.6km) up and Gwaneumsa trail (8.7km) trail down. It was a total of around 4-5 hour hike but was totally worth it.
Day 2
Went to Jeongbang waterfalls, Cheongjiyeon waterfalls, Jusangjeollidae cliffs, and a walk around Seongwipo Maeil Olleh Market in the evening.
Day 3
I went back to Jeju City. I then took the bus to Manjanggul Lava tube cave and chilled at Jimnyeon Beach
Day 4
I took a ferry over to Udo Island and spent half a day there. Didn't feel like walking so I took the tour bus. But the tour was in Korean.
And in the afternoon I climbed Seongsan Ilchulbong. Highly recommended.
If you travel in a large group, I would highly recommend to rent a car because it cuts the travelling time down by alot compare to taking a bus. But if you are travelling alone, then the bus in Jeju is very convenient and there is wifi in the bus, which makes it even greater!
