Hallin Fell Walk
Hallin Fell lies in a crook of Ullswater near Howtown. This is a quiet area of the Lake District amontg the far eastern fells with only one narrow road running along the eastern shore of the lake from Pooley Bridge.
The summit of this small fell gives magnificent views over Ullswater and the valleys of Martindale and Boredale.
A Stroll into Pooley Bridge
We had a walk in to Pooley Bridge which took us 20 minuets from the Waterfoot Park site.
There are several pubs which serve food and a few gift shops. We went to The Crown Inn which has been extensively refurbished since the floods in 2015.

Hallin Fell from Martindale Church
A great walk for the ‘first time’ fell walker or children. Plenty of free parking at Martindale Church (St Peter's Church), which is west from Pooley Bridge and just up from Howtown. Great views over Ullswater, so well worth the effort!

Glenridding, Cumbria, UK - 6th September, 2012
Glenridding is a village located at the southern end of Ullswater, in the English Lake District. The village is popular with mountain walkers who can scale England's third highest mountain, Helvellyn, and many other challenging peaks from here. The village has ample accommodation including two Youth Hostels and good camping sites. There is also a tourist information centre, Ullswater Information Centre. Glenridding is in the civil parish of Patterdale.
This video features views in and around Glenridding including the Ullswater Steamer 'Lady Wakefield' on Lake Ullswater, the hills and mountains around Glenridding, the stream which runs through Glenridding into Lake Ullswater, the traditional stone architecture of Glenridding buildings, hotels, a golf course, and an attention-seeking tractor driver who kept getting in front of where I was filming, boats and a wind-blown lake surface.

Glenridding, proud base of the oldest working Ferry Boat in the World
Yes Glenridding is the place to go for a good day out and the proud base of the oldest working Ferry Boat in the World, Lady Of The Lake.
Glenridding sounds Scottish and Lady Of The Lake is from Scotland, yes she is a Scots lass, conceived in Glasgow but born on the bonny banks of Ullswater. She has been in service all her life, working for Ullswater Steamers and there are no plans for her retirement. Since the closing of the local mine, her life is easier, now she only carries passengers. They make them tough up North.
Glenridding has its own legends and the very best is the mythical King Arthur has its place in local folk legend. So the Lady Of The Lake, is an apt name for this boat. Perhaps that is why she lives on, protected by the spirit of Arthur. Or it could be the hard work and talents of the Ullswater Steamer's staff who have preserved this historic vessel.
So if you are a local or a tourist wanting the perfect destination, or you want to see a historic lady working in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria, England. Lady Of The Lake should be on your list. She works in one of the world's most beautiful valleys on the most beautiful lakes and is a beauty herself. A place for Sailors and Walkers, where you can climb a mountain or sail the blue waters,
cruise to your hearts content.

Lingmoor Fell | Winter walk in the Lake District
A walk up Lingmoor from Chapel Stile in perfect winter conditions. Five miles in total this walk starts by walking up through the working quarry then on through a small woodland following the old quarry road / track.
After a short time you break out of the woodland, continue to follow the track through a second small quarry until you reach a Yew tree on your right(the only tree of its kind in this area) you can't miss it. Here the path goes up the fell to the left (signpost), follow it up and over the gate onto the ridge of Lingmoor where you then follow the wall to the summit. The wall does get replaced with a fence in places.
We then re-traced our steps back to Chapel Stile.
We had a quick brew with the Jetboil before a small flight with the drone, we also found a cave to explore on our way back down.
