In this film you meet some of the characters from The Hallwyl Museum theatrical tours. The Hallwyl Museum in Stockholm was built in the 1890s as a private residence, and is completely preserved with all its contents. The characters in the film are based on real people who lived and worked in the house. Please note that the theatrical tours are given in Swedish only. See for further information.

Hallwyl Museum is a Swedish national museum housed in the historical Hallwyl House in central Stockholm located on 4, Hamngatan facing Berzelii Park. The house once belonged to the Count and Countess von Hallwyl, but was donated to the Swedish state in 1920 to eventually become a museum.
The Art Collection at the Hallwyl Museum (Hallwylska museet)
One of the main attractions of the Hallwyl Museum is the collection of Dutch and Flemish paintings. There are about 160 of them and they include works by several notable artists of the 16th and 17th centuries and all manner of subjects are represented. They were largely acquired through the agency of the art dealer Bukowski in Stockholm and over a period of a few years. In 1905 the attic of the house was converted into a top-lit picture gallery to accommodate the main part of the collection where it is still exposed. Apart from the Dutch and Flemish paintings the collection is very heterogeneous and includes both paintings of the French, Italian and German schools as well as family portraits and Swedish and other foreign 19th century paintings. All in all the collection contains 416 inventory numbers.

Den dramatiserade visningen är baserad på den nyutkomna barnboken Snigeljakten i Hallwylska Palatset. Boken är baserad på en sann historia och är författad av Hallwylska museets intendent Sara Dixon med illustrationer av Gösta Sandell. Boken finns att köpa i vår museibutik.

Wilhelmina von Hallwyl. En kulturmecenat.
Wilhelmina von Hallwyl var inte endast en samlare. Med hennes privilegierade position i samhället följde en förväntan att engagera sig i välgörenhet på olika sätt. Hon bidrog till utvecklandet av flertalet kulturinstitutioner med olika donationer; museer, utgrävningar och till och med modern dansteater. Filmen behandlar flera av Wilhelmina von Hallwyls olika mecenatskap inom kulturen.
