An Introduction to Hambledon Vineyard
Hambledon is one of England's oldest vineyards and also one of the most ambitious too. They're taking on Champagne at their own game with a simple range of three wines, keenly priced and offering great quality.
This video is a short introduction to Hambledon so you can have a quick look around with us. It's a great place to visit too, if you're in Hampshire and fancy a tour and tasting. Everybody in the team is very friendly and welcoming, and it's always sunny too!

The Mini Bonds you are considering buying will be an illiquid (they lack the ability to be sold quickly or without substantial loss in value), non- transferable investment, which will lock up your money for five years. You may lose some or all of your capital should you invest as the assets on which the bonds are secured may not be sufficient to pay back your investment in all circumstances.

Hambledon Vineyard Producer Profile
Hambledon is one of England's oldest vineyards and also one of the most ambitious too. They're taking on Champagne with a simple range of three wines, keenly priced and offering great quality.
This video is our full producer profile. You'll meet Ian Kellett, their gregarious owner, who'll tell you all about how he's aiming to beat the French at their own game. We'll also share some snippets of the tour with Katrina Smith, their Wine and Education Manager. Between them, they'll talk us through their history, the influence of Winston Churchill and Pol Roger, their approach to winemaking, and some seriously impressive expansion plans.
We're really looking forward to watching Hambledon as they seek to grow from 100,000 bottles now to 1,000,000 over the next decade or so. If you get the chance to visit, we can heartily recommend the tour and tasting. They're a hospitable bunch too - and Ian says it's always sunny!

Hambleden Village, UK
Hambleden is a small village north east of Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire, England. The village has often been used as a location for film and TV.
I’ve wanted to film here for a while, it’s such a beautiful location. The village is part of The Chiltern Hills, a national area of outstanding beauty. I’ve made this video because I wanted to show how lucky we are to live around this magnificent place.

Hambledon Vineyard 2014 Harvest
Hambledon Vineyard is the UK's only gravity fed winery which basically means the juice and wine travels throughout the winery, over four floors, via gravity with no pumping. You can read more about this at my previous blog post. The grapes had been harvested into 20kg boxes which are then loaded onto pallets and taken, via a lift, to the top floor of the winery where the presses are located. Ian Kellett gave us a quick demonstration on how to load the grapes into the and two or three of us all had a go. Apparently a similar press would be filled in about 3 minutes by some burly Frenchmen in Champagne (using 50kg boxes), I didn't time it exactly, but it must have taken us about 15 to 20 minutes!
As the grapes are crushed the juice flows into the collecting bins (known as belons in French) which are located on the floor below. These are custom built and compartmentalised into 4 sections - two larger ones for the first and second Cuvées, and two smaller ones for “les tailles” (the “tails” or ends) of the pressing. This allows the winemaker far more control - the juice from different parts of the pressing can be treated differently. Contrary to popular belief, the free-run juice and the first part of the pressing is not necessarily the best juice. Head wine-maker Hervé Jestin constantly tastes the juice as it comes out of the press to decide when to switch the juice going into the small container for les tailles over to the large container for the main pressing, the cuvée.

Living in England - vineyards in England -moving to the UK #moveabroad #livingabroad
Hi guys,
In this video I was visiting a vineyard in Hampshire in the South of England.
Southern England has seen a big increase in the number of vineyards over recent years - especially on the chalk soil of Sussex and Hampshire, which is almost identical to that in Champagne.
The slight rise in temperatures that has resulted from climate change has meant that the Champagne varieties of grape can now be grown in England. English sparkling wines have become very good in a short space of time and now rival the world's best.
Cool climate and slow ripening can deliver fantastic intensity of flavour in the grapes and wines - but the flip side is that in bad years (like 2012) it can mean no ripe grapes at all!
