Karridale and Hamelin Bay
Karridale is a beautiful, small township in the south-west of Western Australia located between Margaret River and Augusta on the Bussell Highway just 3 and half hours from the Perth CBD.
With a population of some 300 people, Karridale is rich in history as it was once the centre of the state’s timber industry.

GIANTS CAVE & HAMELIN BAY | How to Get Lost in WA Ep. 6 - Margaret River Adventure
This week Kierran and I explore some more of the stunning Margaret River and get lost underground in Giants Cave.
Giants Cave is a self exploration cave located on Caves Road in the Southern Margaret River area. margaretriver.com website can give you all the information if you are keen to explore Giants Cave yourself!
After our cave experience we head to Hamelin Bay. Hamelin Bay is famous for hosting a family of stingrays and eagle rays!
These rays come right up to the shore, and if you are lucky enough you can have a little swim with them! Very cool!

Hamelin Bay Holiday Park
Hamelin Bay Holiday Park sits on the edge of the magnificent Hamelin Bay in the Margaret River area of the South West of Western Australia just 10 minutes north of Augusta and 5 minutes from Karridale. From your ocean view cottages are the breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean.
Feeding the Rays at Hamelin Bay, Margaret River WA
An amazing experience was to feed the wild Sting Rays and Manta Rays in their own habitat at Hamelin Bay in the Margaret River region, Western Australia.
It allowed me to pat it and quickly worked out it wanted to come to me. I always felt safe although also ensured I was away from its tail.

Der Tag an dem ich mit Eindrücken überflutet wurde :b
Aus Margaret River raus und keine 30 Minuten später bin ich am Surfers Point. Wellen mehrere Meter hoch und berauschend gute Surfer. Bäume die bis zum Himmel reichen, ja gibt es an der Boranup Road. Hamelin Bay lässt jedes Herz höher schlagen.

I have gotten up early to make my way down to Hamelin Bay, a good 25km south of Margaret River. Why? Because I wanted to see the big stingrays that live there!! And I did! These things are huge and soooo placid! I had most of the beach to myself and couldn't get enough watching those giants come sooo close to shore!
In the afternoon we went on to explore another attraction of the Margaret River region. The Boronup forest.

Margaret River - Western Australia
Check out our new series on the Margaret River area where we visit many places we have never seen before.
Margaret River is a pretty little town almost half way between Busselton and Augusta. The town has been over commercialised in the past few years and is a haven for yuppie types who have been mainly responsible for the huge increase in prices in the vineyards nearby. Commercial wine making came to the area in 1967 with the establishment of Vasse Felix, but it wasn't until the 1980s when wine became more acceptable in Australia, that the industry really saw a massive increase.
