Te Awa River Ride 42Km |Cycling New Zealand Vlog 1 | Hamilton to Ngaruawahia | Auckland Day Trip
We cycled from Hamilton to Ngaruawahia (21Km one way) and back (42Km both ways). This cycle track is very easy even a beginner level cyclist can do it. The route is very scenic throughout so we enjoyed every minute of it. Can be done as a day trip from Auckland.
More information can be found here
We hired our e-bikes from for $85 per day. They gave us the child seat for free.

Cycle path loop ride around Hamilton
A 25km loop ride around Hamilton at the end of summer heading anti-clockwise starting in the south of the city. Used cycle paths ALMOST the entire way, the odd piece of shared path, and cycle lane use on road sections like Avalon drive. Occasionally hopped up onto footpaths carefully where the road option wasn't great. Idea was to see if it was possible to circumnavigate the city in a safe way that would work for those who are less experienced. Video was shot in two parts, one on a Cross bike the other a MTB, stitched together at the end. Both were fine for the loop.

TA Day 30, Ngaruawahia
Date: January 30th 2018
Mangere Bridge - Huntly 762km
Huntly - Ngaruawahia 783km
Grabbed the bus from Auckland Sky City to Huntly this morning due to lots of boring road walking along SH1 and trail closures. After weeks of soggy wet feet I have found myself with athletes foot. Off to the pharmacy!
Started the Haakarimata Forest track which was a steep initial stair climb - knee killer. This was my favourite forest to date and my second favourite section on the TA thus far. It was blistering hot and I hadn't anticipated drinking so much water and ran out of water just as I reached the summit. After a brutal decent (sore knees) I found a stream where I smashed back a couple litres of water and made it into the township of Ngaruawahia around 7pm. Walked to the Cafe opposite the golf course which I had read in the notes you can camp at. Pitched our tents in the garden and settled in for the night. Tomorrow we reach Hamilton.

I started from Little Waipa Landing, its called the Karapiro section and followed the track along side the lake and then the river, at the end of this trail is an excellent little cafe call Ruhbarb Cafe.
