HAMOA BEACH - ROAD TO HANA - MAUI - HAWAII

Previously named ‘America’s Best Beach’ in 2003, Ka’anapali Beach is one of the most popular, and well-deserved, choices among Maui’s 81 distinct beaches:
Located in west Maui only a short drive from Olowalu, Lahaina Town and Napili, Ka’anapali Beach is one of the best options for those seeking golden-white sand, turquoise waters, sunshine, Hawaiian Sea Turtle sightings, gorgeous sunsets, walking trails, snorkeling, sunbathing, swimming, cliff jumping and even scuba diving. In addition, Ka’anapali Beach is also a convenient beach location near plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, spas, condos and resorts, and has plentiful options for public restrooms.
Stretching along 3 miles of coastline, this often-visited Maui beach - also known as ‘Black Rock’ for its prime cliff jumping spot on the northern end - Ka’anapali Beach is one of the top local spots for beach-going, and features a nightly cliff diving ceremony at sunset that acts as a prime photo opportunity for guests and locals alike.
Bring along your snorkel gear, or rent it from one of the many nearby activity and accommodation providers, and explore Maui’s most unique marine life, from endemic species like the humuhumunukunukuapua’a, the state fish of Hawaii, to other species like octopus, eagle rays, sea stars, sea cucumbers and sea turtles. It’s recommended to arrive early, as parking normally fills up later in the afternoon, and only to go out on days when the water is calm and you have someone to swim with, as dangerous strong currents can pop up from time to time.
Resorts like the Honua Kai, Hyatt Regency, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, Ka’anapali Beach Hotel, Aston at the Whaler and Westin Maui Resort & Spa are located just nearby for ultimate convenience to those staying in the area, but we also recommend bringing cash or a card in case you want to have lunch or enjoy a post-swim pau hana cocktail at one of the many nearby bars and restaurants, including popular options like Leilani’s on the Beach, Hula Grill, Tiki Bar & Grill, Duke’s Beach House or Monkeypod Kitchen.
We’ll see you on the beach!
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters - Hamoa Beach, Hana, Maui
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters
Hamoa beach is just outside of Hana town.
THE BLUE HAWAIIAN DIFFERENCE There's simply no argument: Blue Hawaiian is Hawaii's #1 helicopter tour company. Blue Hawaiian's aircraft maintenance technicians have received the FAA's coveted Certificate of Excellence, Diamond Award every year since 1998. No other helicopter tour company in Hawaii has ever received this critical recognition. Blue Hawaiian was honored by the FAA for its record 12th straight year in January, 2009, at a ceremony in Honolulu, and the FAA further honored Blue Hawaiian with the very first Certificate of Excellence, Platinum Award. And Blue Hawaiian is the only helicopter tour company in Hawaii certified by the Department of Defense.
Welcome to the Blue Skies of Hawaii. Blue is the only helicopter tour company serving all four major Hawaiian islands: Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island. That means wherever you go in the Islands of Aloha, you know exactly how to get the world's finest aerial tours: just remember the color of the sky.
We don't just operate the best equipment, we help develop it. From the ultra-quiet, spacious, and powerful 21st-century Eco-Star helicopter to the breakthrough Garmin G500H technology, which gives our pilots astonishing three-dimensional synthetic vision terrain awareness in less than optimal weather; from our pioneering of multi-camera in-flight video, to designing vastly improved cockpit air-conditioning—Blue Hawaiian is always at the forefront of leading-edge innovations for your safety, comfort, and enjoyment. Because when it comes to our guests, good enough is never enough.
The finest pilots in the sky. Blue Hawaiian prides itself on hand-picking only the finest and most experienced pilots—the absolute cream of the profession—and every one of them is a State of Hawaii Certified Tour Guide. Blue Hawaiian is also the only helicopter tour company in Hawaii with its own state-of-the-art Flight Simulator, and the only one that puts its pilots through annual factory and FAA recurrent training.
KAHEKILI BEACH PARK - KA'ANAPALI - WEST MAUI - HAWAII
Kahekili Beach Park - Ka'anapali - West Maui - Hawaii

Hamoa Beach, Hana Maui
James Mitchener, who wrote the book Hawaii, stated this is the best beach in the Pacific. I don't know whether this is true, but I cannot imagine a more beautiful place. I lost my Maui Jim's in the surf here and I didn't care.

Driving from Hana to Hamoa Beach on Maui Island, Hawaii
I’m in Hana, the easternmost town on Maui Island. Completed the 34-mile “Road to Hana” early this afternoon. Unfortunately it was raining the entire time, so it was not good conditions to shoot any video. I started Hawaii 360, the Hana Highway, at 9:17 this morning. Took me 3 hours 3 minutes to reach Hana, with some stops at waterfalls along the way. Reached Wanapapa State Park at 12:20 p.m. Took a nap in the back of my rental SUV since I’ve been up since 4:15 p.m. yesterday so coming upon 24 hours awake.
Left the park at 2:23 after taking a short walk around to see the tiny black-sand beach and lava cliffs there. Fortunately the rain had stopped by this point. Now it’s 3:30 p.m. I’m at the bottom of Puu o Kahaula Hill, where I did a 31-minute, 1.6-mile hike up to a viewpoint over Hana.
It’s time to start the trip back toward my accommodation in Kihei on Maui’s west coast. Weather is improving. Finally seeing a tad of blue sky. Next stop will be in about three miles Hamoa Beach. A sign indicates it’s 9.5 miles to Haleakala National Park’s Kipahulu Area, another place I plan to visit on the return trip.
The Road to Hana is famous for its incredible twists and turns as well as 54 one-lane bridges. It was quite marvelous but unfortunately the visibility was limited by the rain and fog so the nice ocean views were not visible.
Recorded at 3:28 p.m. July 21, 2018, on Maui Island
