Harmonica Yokocho in Musashino, Tokyo | Philippine Primer Travels
Harmonica Yokocho (Alley) in Tokyo contrasts nicely with the fancy neighborhood that it resides in. Places like this are called yokocho in Japanese, a set of alleyways where some of the city's most precious gems are safely sheltered—small shops, modest restaurants, teeming ramshackle pubs.

Bar-Hopping in Harmonica Yokocho, Kichijoji’s Retro Drinking Alley in Tokyo
Harmonica Yokocho is an old-school drinking alley in Kichijoji, Tokyo, packed with tiny izakayas (Japanese gastropubs). It began as a flea market following World War II, and today it has the same retro vibe. By day, Harmonica Yokocho is a marketplace of clothing boutiques and street food; but by night, it transforms into casual, local drinking hub.
Tag along with byFood host Shizuka Anderson and Alejandro as they explore 3 bars in Harmonica Yokocho, tasting everything from “chicken surprise” to horse meat, and chatting with Kichijoji locals.

Harmonica Yokocho retro tiny restaurants in Kichijoji ハーモニカ横丁 Tokyo with Adeyto
Retro Showa style, this place was first built as a flea market in the early postwar years, this collection of alleys on the north side of Kichijoji Station is now best known for its more than 100 small but excellent restaurants, which began popping up in the late '90s, lined up in a small area that looks like the mouthpiece of a harmonica. You'll also find grocery and clothing stores here, along with specialist shops for goodies like yokan (sweet bean jelly), pork cutlet and taiyaki (fish-shaped pancakes filled with anko bean paste). The bustle is turned up at night, when diners crowd the trendy standing-only bars and miniature eateries. For the complete experience, try spending an entire night bar-hopping without exiting the harmonica-like maze.
It's nestled between large shopping building and arcades in the area. The adjacent covered arcade called Runroad is also packed with shops and restaurants. This area is easy to get to from most anywhere in Tokyo and expect to spend many hours in the area.

Tsukiji Outer Market in Tokyo | Philippine Primer Travels
Tsukiji Outer Market in Tokyo is a must-visit for Filipinos and expats in the Philippines for an empowering experience of the Japanese local life. It was a part of the old Tsukiji Market, a historic fish market that was once one of the biggest and longest-running fish markets in the world, which operated since 1935. It operated for nearly a century until the inner market was closed and relocated to its new location in October this year.
