Hampsfell in Grange-over-Sands // Hiking Vlog #17

With some of the most spectacular 360 degree views in the area and a 350 million year old limestone pavement it's not really very surprising why I love this place so much!

Hampsfell in Grange-over-Sands is my regular stomping ground, being just a 5 minute walk from my front door. It was nice not having to drive and being able to wear a light bag for a change. Obviously young Finn joined me on this one and she had a wonderful time on this very windy day - despite almost being killed by a sheep!

We walked up to the Hampsfell Hospice which is a nice little stone shelter built by the vicar at Cartmel Priory in 1846. As I mentioned in the video this is where I bumped into Will Holligan ( during last year's 'Beast from the East' storm.

Full disclosure: due to the very high winds on this day I wasn't able to fly the drone but fortunately I had some archive footage from previous walks - phew!

Lake District Country Walk - Grange-Over-Sands - Cartmel - Hampsfell round

Our video is a guided walk in the south eastern area of the Lake District from Grange-over-Sands where we observe a verirty of different and very colourful ducks and geese from all over the world in the Ornamental Garden. We then walk on to Cartmel and visit the priory and race course and then we walk uphill to the Hospice on the summit of Hampsfell and back to Grange by the edge of Eggerslack Wood. The views are wonderful.

Day 2 of our September 2017 trip to the Lakes and fortunately the weather has improved. Hampsfell from Grange - Over - Sands we tackle first and its excellent Hospice, then Humphrey Head from Allithwaite.
