Hamurana Springs - Dancing Sands Spring
A short video showing the Dancing Sands Springs, located within the Hamurana Springs Reserve.
Hamurana Springs is the deepest natural fresh water spring on the North Island of New Zealand. Located to the north east of Lake Rotorua, the spring emerges from a rocky area within the reserve.
The Dancing Sands spring, named because of the effect of the emerging water on the sand on the bottom of the spring.

Rainbow Mountain Scenic Reserve is a geothermal landscape containing rare plant species and a striking coloured terrain. Heading to, or from Taupo, the reserve is 26 kilometres to the south-east of Rotorua and just off State Highway 5.

A very chilly Autumn day - this is one of the main Springs pushing water up through the ground.
ABANDONED pump house at Okere Falls
On the outskirts of Rotorua there is an abandoned pump house located at Okere Falls. The track itself leads you through many viewing points of several waterfalls including the highest commercially rafted waterfall, Tutea Falls. There is also a cave you can visit while at Tutea Falls called Tutea Caves. It's 30mins one way but you'd probably wanna do a return trip anyways since there is so much to see. We went by foot but many visitors enjoy rafting and kayaking down the Kaituna River to fully experience this beautiful location!
