Hancock County Scenic Byways - What You'll See on Your Journey
Hancock County has been environmentally and culturally blessed with two scenic byways designations — the Byways to Space trail network and the Beach Boulevard Byway. These scenic byways feature captivating coastlines, winding rivers, pristine marshland teeming with wildlife, scenic bayous, peaceful pine forests, magnificent beaches, and tranquil trails lined with majestic live oaks. Hundreds of historic homes, heritage sites and landmarks add to the ambiance, attracting residents and visitors from across the country.
Byways to Space - NASA Scenic Byway - INFINITY Science Center
The NASA Scenic Byway to Space is the beginning point of the journey, which encompasses more than 30 miles of land inside the Buffer Zone surrounding John C. Stennis Space Center. For a nominal fee, visitors can go to the INFINITY Science Center and learn about early explorers, rocket testing, living in space, and see some great exhibits that feature astronaut suits and a training module for the International Space Station. Other options include eating at the INFINITY Café, shopping in the INFINITY gift shop, and touring the John C. Stennis Space Center.
Byways to Space - Napoleon Scenic Byway
Welcome to the Byways to Space network -- the only one of its kind in the country. Although a short drive, the Napolean Byway takes visitors on an interesting tour of the now extinct town that is laced with scenic beauty. Napoleon's first European settlement was in 1767 by Jean Claude Favre, and the area was later owned by his son Simon Favre.
