Lexington, Massachusetts Community Tour
- Lexington, Massachusetts is a historic town in Middlesex County. Originally settled nearly four centuries ago, the town is most famous as the site of the opening shots of the American Revolution. Today, Lexington is an affluent community that prides itself on the beauty of town land, the safety of its residents and the excellence of its public school system. The town has numerous parks, conservation lands, museums and libraries that provide exceptional opportunities for recreational and cultural activities.
The town was first settled as a part of Cambridge in 1642. Incorporated separately in 1713, the community saw light industrial development in the succeeding decades but remained predominantly agricultural in nature throughout the colonial period.
On the morning of April 19th, 1775, Lexington entered our nation's history when the British Army marched into town and were met by a local militia. Assembled by General Thomas Gage under the orders of British Secretary of State William Legge, Earl of Dartmouth, the British redcoats intended to capture and destroy a store of military supplies belonging to a rebel colonial militia. Rebel leaders had already received word of the Earl's instructions from sources in London, so the store of arms was removed from Concord and distributed to neighboring community. When the British troops arrived in town, a party of 77 militiamen emerged from Buckman Tavern to confront them, and amidst the ensuing confusion shots were fired on both sides. Eight colonists were killed, but a larger rebel force had already assembled in Concord, and once word of the fatalities reached nearby towns their ranks quickly swelled. At the North Bridge in Concord, several hundred militiamen fought and defeated three companies of the King's troops.
Today, the town commemorates the historic battle on Patriot's Day each April, with a reenactment of Paul Revere's ride and the battle itself drawing large crowds perennially. The town remains a popular tourist destination, with the historic landmarks of Battle Green, Buckman Tavern, Munroe Tavern and the Hancock-Clarke House all lovingly maintained by the historical society.

Capt. Parker Statue and Battle Green, Lexington, MA
Captain john Parker (1729-1775) was an experienced militia leader, having served in the French and Indian War. Because Lexington had not formed a Minute Company as part of its town militia, he was not a Minuteman, though his actions on April 19, 1775 are worthy of one. Although he was in the beginning stages of TB, he quickly mustered his men after hearing what was then known as the Lexington Alarm and attempted to keep them orderly until a random shot ignited the battle. He saw his cousin Jonas Parker run through with a british bayonet.
Parker participated with his militia at the 1775 Siege of Boston but was too ill to serve at Bunker Hill. He lost his battle with TB in Sept. 1775.
Another monument commemorates the pastors of the Lexington Meeting House, among them John Hancock, grandfather of the patriot and Jonas Clarke, with whom the younger Hancock and Samuel Adams were staying on the night on April 18-19, 1775, when Revere found them.

THE SHOT HEARD ROUND THE WORLD THAT PREVENTED GUN CONFISCATION IN AMERICA: Jake MacAulay
“What a glorious morning this is!” said Samuel Adams to John Hancock at the Battle of Lexington, Massachusetts, 243 years ago on April 19, 1775. It was the day of the “The Shot Heard Round the World”.
Indeed, that first bloodshed in the American War for Independence was an extremely important event. Due to the modern day revisionist history tactics of education textbooks in America, we are rarely told that this day was really about gun confiscation. You see, King George III was all about gun control for the colonists. He had instructed his generals to begin rounding up the guns of the colonists in our land for one reason - so he might oppress them with the measures of a tyrant. The fact is the Red Coats went to Lexington and Concord that day to confiscate the guns, ammunition, and gunpowder of the American colonists.
Shocking to many modern-day pastors, ministers, and Christians alike is the location of the guns and munitions of the Colonists. The arsenal of this freedom-loving militia was in the Church Meeting House on Lexington Green. In fact, a militiaman testified that Captain Parker said to his men, “Every man of you, who is equipped, follow me; and those of you who are not equipped, go into the meeting-house and furnish yourselves from the magazine, and immediately join the company.” And the Pastor of that church, Jonas Clarke, was a significant voice calling on his people to resist the British. The members of the militia on that Green that April day in 1775, were members of the Congregation, which met at that Meeting House. You might say that this church launched the War for Independence.
Americans need to remember this history, especially today when a new style of Red Coats disguised as educators, politicians, and now many high school students (being manipulated by delusional thinking) are all rallying for federal government gun control. These groups descend upon our nation’s capital or on our own village green. The agenda is the same, though the style of clothing has changed. Tragically, these factions in the modern American society have left off true constitutional understanding.
These contingents are walking in a limited tunnel of vision - some on purpose, but most of them unknowingly; yet, both parties remain neglectful. While they practice the right to free speech, peaceful assembly, and petition found in the First Amendment, they seek to do away with the Second Amendment; the very instrument that prevents the annihilation of the First Amendment by a tyrannical power that loathes being reminded of individual God-given rights.
At the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Dr. James McHenry, a delegate from Maryland, noted an individual asking Benjamin Franklin as he left Independence Hall, “Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”
Franklin’s response was, “A Republic, if you can keep it.”
If you desire to live in a free Constitutional Republic please pray with me for the state of affairs in America and work with me to restore sound Biblical, Constitutional thinking in America.

Prince Estabrook Monument and Buckman Tavern, Lexington, MA
Yes, African-Americans, including slaves, fought for what was their country, too, and most of the reading here is audible. The marker describes Estabrook as a Minuteman which was not entirely correct as Lexington did not have a separate Minute company attached to its town militia.
Paul Revere stopped at Buckman Tavern several times during his ride and later he and another man retrieved a heavy trunk of John Hancock's personal paperwork and were dragging it into the woods as the Bwttle of Lexington began around them.

While the Buckman Tavern played an integral part in the Battle of Lexington and Concord, its role in the Town of Lexington extends beyond that, especially following its restoration in the early 20th century.

Paul Revere
Paul Revere (/rɪˈvɪər/; December 21, 1734 O.S. – May 10, 1818) was an American silversmith, engraver, early industrialist, and a patriot in the American Revolution. He is most famous for alerting the Colonial militia to the approach of British forces before the battles of Lexington and Concord, as dramatized in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, Paul Revere's Ride.
Revere was a prosperous and prominent Boston silversmith, who helped organize an intelligence and alarm system to keep watch on the British military. Revere later served as a Massachusetts militia officer, though his service culminated after the Penobscot Expedition, one of the most disastrous campaigns of the American Revolutionary War, for which he was absolved of blame. Following the war, Revere returned to his silversmith trade and used the profits from his expanding business to finance his work in iron casting, bronze bell and cannon casting, and the forging of copper bolts and spikes. Finally in 1800 he became the first American to successfully roll copper into sheets for use as sheathing on naval vessels.

SUMMARY
=======
Greater Boston is the metropolitan region of New England encompassing the municipality of Boston, the capital of the U.S. state of Massachusetts, and the most populous city in New England, as well as its surrounding areas. The region forms the northern arc of the US northeast megalopolis and as such, Greater Boston can be described as either a metropolitan statistical area (MSA), or as a broader combined statistical area (CSA). The MSA consists of most of the eastern third of Massachusetts, excluding the South Coast region and Cape Cod; while the CSA additionally includes the municipalities of Manchester (the largest city in the U.S. state of New Hampshire), Providence (the capital and largest city of the U.S. state of Rhode Island), Worcester, Massachusetts (the second largest city in New England), as well as the South Coast region and Cape Cod in Massachusetts. While the small footprint of the city of Boston itself only contains an estimated 685,094, the urbanization has extended well into surrounding communities, with the MSA having a population of 4,732,161.
Some of Greater Boston's most well-known contributions involve the region's higher education and medical institutions. Greater Boston has been influential upon American history and industry. The region and the state of Massachusetts are global leaders in biotechnology, engineering, higher education, finance, and maritime trade.Over 80% of Massachusetts' population lives in the Greater Boston metropolitan region. Greater Boston is ranked tenth in population among US metropolitan statistical areas, home to 4,732,161 people as of the 2014 US Census estimate, and sixth among combined statistical areas, with a population of 8,099,575. The area has hosted many people and sites significant to American culture and history, particularly American literature, politics, and the American Revolution.
Plymouth was the site of the first colony in New England, founded in 1620 by the Pilgrims, passengers of the Mayflower. In 1692, the town of Salem and surrounding areas experienced one of America's most infamous cases of mass hysteria, the Salem witch trials. In the late 18th century, Boston became known as the Cradle of Liberty for the agitation there that led to the American Revolution.
The Greater Boston region has played a powerful commercial and cultural role in the history of the United States. Before the American Civil War, the region was a center for the abolitionist, temperance, and transcendentalist movements. In 2004, Massachusetts became the first U.S. state to legally recognize same-sex marriage as a result of the decision of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in Boston. Many prominent American political dynasties have hailed from the Boston region, including the Adams and Kennedy families.
