Among the seven peaks, the forth peak is the highest and the Katusukonda is the last peak and slightly dangerous part of this mountain range. University of Peradeniya is situated adjacent to the Hanthana mountain range
If you want to cover the entire Hanthana range, you can start the hike from Nilambe Meditation Center side and end from Kandy side.

Hanthana mountain range in the central hills of Sri Lanka close to the hill capital Kandy is a beautiful panoramic mountain range. with the maximum height of 3800ft, Hanthana is a hiker's paradise. 360 degrees of panoramic view allows to see a very large area of the central hills.
However hiking across the entire mountain range is not easy. there are a few difficult parts to tackle. we had walked 10+ km during our hike across the range.

End of the hanthana mountain range is the “Katusukonda”. It is known as Katusukonda because that area of the mountain range looks like a back of a lizard. During the hikes to each peak, you’ll have to cross thick forest patches and Mana bushes.(wear long sleeves) It is an eye-catching scenic view on top of Hanthana range. Sitting on top of Hanthana, on one side right within your sight, you can see Peacock hills, Gampola town, Kabaragala- the highest peak of Dolosbage mountain, Kadugannawa, Alagalla, Mahaweli River, Bathalegala, and Piduruthalagala Mountain. On the other side Knuckles range, Hunnasgiriya, Wilshire, and Etipola will create a scenic picture..???????????? Dont forget to carry enough water if you hike up here.. ???????? ????
