Scotland's Highlands
Check your local public television station for this Rick Steves’ Europe episode or watch it on The Highlands stoke kilted dreams of Scotland…where legends of Bonnie Prince Charlie swirl around lonely castles. We visit the Weeping Glen of Glencoe, bustling Inverness, and the battlefield at Culloden. Then we'll make a pilgrimage to the spiritual capital of a major clan, and go prehistoric at Stone Age burial grounds and Iron Age island forts. Venturing along the Caledonian Canal and watching for Nessie at Loch Ness, we work up an appetite for modern Scottish cuisine and enjoy traditional folk music.

FALKLAND OUTLANDER LOCATIONS TOUR (INVERNESS) & MRS BAIRD'S B&B! (COVENANTER HOTEL)
Come with me on a tour of Outlander's 1940s Inverness...or the picturesque village of Falkland! I had the pleasure of staying at Mrs. Baird's B&B (The Covenanter Hotel) and had a peek inside THE bedroom that Frank and Claire stayed in which was the interior of the Reverend Wakefield's House too (in Hunterstone House of Clan Hunter)!
Stand where Jamie stood by the fountain looking up at Claire brushing her hair, go vintage shopping or pop into Mrs. Baird's B&B for afternoon tea. Falkland or Inverness is a MUST for any Outlander fan! #outlander

Tour Inverness Scotland : Brodie Castle
Tour Inverness Scotland : Brodie Castle
Brodie Castle. A National Trust for Scotland Property.
Brodie Castle. This fine 16th-century tower house is packed with enough art and antiques to keep connoisseurs happy all day. The castle tells the fascinating story of the Brodie family.
Built in 1567 by the Brodies. It is widely accepted that the Brodies have been associated with the land and the castle since the 1160s, when it is said that King Malcolm IV gave the land to the family.
The castle has a central keep with two 5-storey towers on opposing corners. In common with other fortified homes of the time it has no castle wall. It has a guardroom and secret passages to help the occupants escape.
Brodie castle is known for its fine daffodil collection, and is owned by the National Trust for Scotland and open to tourists throughout the summer months.
Set in peaceful parkland, It contains fine French furniture; English, continental and Chinese porcelain; and a major collection of paintings, including 17th-century Dutch art, 19th-century English watercolours, and early 20th-century works. The magnificent library contains some 6,000 volumes. Brodie has unusual plaster ceilings.
There is a woodland walk with a large pond and a nature trail with access to wildlife observation hides.
An ancient Pictish monument known as Rodney’s Stone can be seen in the castle grounds.
In springtime the grounds are carpeted with many varieties of daffodils for which Brodie Castle is rightly famous.
Brodie Castle is slightly further away, between the historic Moray towns of Nairn and Forres, so is perhaps not first on the castle list for the majority of visitors to the Highlands. That is a real shame (for them, not us!) as this sensitively restored 16th century castle is an absolute gem, where generations of the Brodie Clan have lived. The clan’s legacy is a fascinating history, a building which features a variety of impressive architectural and decorative styles, and “enough art and antiques to keep connoisseurs happy all day”.
Happy Cow Vegan Cafe Find in Inverness Scotland
Sharing our day trip to Inverness. We needed to go to a kilt shop - how Scottish is that?? Stopped in a lovely town with an old stone bridge, posed by Inverness Castle and the River Ness (of Loch Ness Monster fame, same area).
We did our shopping and then used our Happy Cow app to find a great vegan friendly organic cafe in the heart of Inverness. I share what we ate and a peek at the Nourish Cafe. We are now in London area for the family wedding. I will share more from London on Monday. Have a great weekend friends!

Scotland, Inverness: Blog and Vlog
Here was our first time ever in Scotland and In the UK with my bestriend. I’ll be honest when I say I went to Scotland or wanted to go to Scotland mostly because of Outlander. But It was really so beautiful and I even found out that there was a ballet school here too from a person who found me online again, so now I have reason to come back and teach I hope.
I’ve been getting on and off fever for 5 weeks now so I do hope to get better soon and I can be at my 100%.
Much love always,

McLeods chip shop review - inverness scotland
Here's our review of a large fish supper from McLeods fish & chip shop located in the city of inverness, Grant Street highlands of Scotland.
They have 2 awards for Scotlands best fish and chips they have another board that shows where the potatoes are from also where the fish is from.
The place looked bright, clean and staff seemed friendly.
Only issue i had was there was no irn bru left so i had to settle for diet irn bru.
I got a large fish supper for £8.20 and can of juice was £1.10
Batter on the fish was nice and crisp, chips were ace.
I gave this place 5 stars as i will be back.

The Isle of Skye tour | Scotland | Highland tour Scotland - Day 1
The Isle of Skye tour | Scotland | Highland tour Scotland - Day 1

'The Great Britain XII' | 27th April - 5th May 2019
And so the Railway Tourning Companies 12th edition of it's 'Great Britain' railtour was as successful as ever in 2019. The nine day tour of the British Isles included six different mainline locomotive and covered over 2000 miles as it carried some 300 plus passengers to various destinations across England, Wales & Scotland.
Coverage for me this year began on day three and continued through to day seven;
- Day One: London Paddington - Plymouth
- Day Two: Plymouth - Minehead - Taunton
- Day Three: Taunton - Preston
- Day Four: Preston - Edinburgh
- Day Five: Edinburgh - Aberdeen - Edinburgh
- Day Six: Edinburgh - Stranraer - Ayr
- Day Seven: Ayr - Scarborough
- Day Nine: Scarborough - London Paddington (Terminated at Reading)
Once again the process of planning each day and choosing shots was such a fun experience and chasing the train through some spectacular scenery and you can really appreciate the level of dedicated planning that goes into making something like this happen. The tour also payed tribute to the late Nigel Dobbing, who headed up the Railway Touring Company since its beginning.
If you haven't already, please check out my other videos on the GB XII to see extras and full day coverages of each day and also check more full coverage from Authentic Aspects chase of the tour, links will be bellow. Also please let me know if you enjoy the video and if you'd be happy to see videos like this in the future, hope you enjoy!

Stonehenge is arguably one of the most famous megalithic monuments in the world. It's also one of the most mysterious, with its prehistoric concentric rings garnering plenty of speculation as to why and how they were constructed.
