Harbor Walk Marina, Destin Florida
During our day in Destin we went and had lunch at AJ's, then toured the boardwalk there at Destin Harbor. Lots to do here and definitely a place to go if your looking for a fishing charter boat.
Just a fun day away from the shop enjoying more of the nice local sites.

Emerald Grande at HarborWalk Village in Destin, FL 2015
Visit to plan your perfect vacation!
Emerald Grande at HarborWalk Village is located on the beautiful Destin Harbor.
Margaritaville, Harbor Walk Village, Destin, Florida
Located between the Destin Fishing Fleet and Harbor Walk Village is Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. This restaurant, among a few others, offers amazing views of the Gulf of Mexico, East Pass, the Fishing fleet and Destin Harbor all while setting at the foot of the Emerald Grande which offers all kinds of other things to do!
On this day we were fortunate to be blessed with a beautiful warm spring-like day in the middle of February. Deciding to take advantage of the amazing weather and fulfill a request, we arrived for a late lunch and was seated immediately overlooking the water and Noriega Point. It took us a while to decide exactly what we wanted because the view is just hard not to love!
Like all places in Destin the restaurant can be expensive depending how you order. As you see in the video mama got a Margarita blender before seeing how much it was! Luckily the fancy cup comes with a discount for future drinks. For planning purposes, I would recommend planning to spend $20 a person here.
Also, like all places in Destin parking here can be a nightmare! We highly recommend getting an Uber or plan on parking across the street where you will have to pay a small fee and walk a little bit to get to where you want to go fast, otherwise you will just be doing circles waiting on a spot to come open... Not Fun!
You may have noticed in the video construction in the back ground. This is a beach restoration project going on at Noriega Point close to where we started the video. We were told by the staff at the restaurant that the city of Destin has promised them that this project will be done before the summer bash and hopefully that is true. When it finally is done the view across the Harbor to the East Pass into the Gulf will be unrestricted and amazing!
Margaritaville and Jimmy Buffets' music fits in perfect here and really sets the mood. Although it was just February on this day it felt like the middle of summer and really made us anxious. We would like to give a big shout out to our new friend Sunnyboyjim for recommending this place and hope him and his family make it back down soon!

The Whale's Tail, Miramar Beach, Florida
Today we traveled once again to Miramar beach and decided to explore the Whale's Tail restaurant. Nestled along side the Gulf of Mexico the Whale's tail is a small quaint eatery that is part of the Seascape resort. We were greeted by a friendly staff and was seated Immediately. Although the official tourist season has ended here the restaurant was quite full and we were pleasantly surprised at the quick service.
The restaurant is reminiscent of a large gazebo which houses 2 levels. The top a large outdoor eating area which exploits an amazing view of the gulf. There is also a smaller inside eating which offers a bar and small gift shop. The ground level offers an outdoor bar which caters to the beach goers and provides picnic like tables for enjoying your beverage in the shade.
On this day parking was quite easy as we virtually pulled right up to the front door. Although space here is premium and probably really hard to park in the summer time. The best bet would be to get an Uber or prep yourself for a long walk. Prices here are on par with any other eating establishments you will find along the beach and can expect long waits in the peak tourist season.
THE PHANTOM OF THE AQUA:
Once we completed this video we learned a lot more about this mysterious boat. A story broke in the North West Florida Daily News, a local news paper in the Fort Walton Beach Area, that stated this was not a causality of Hurricane Irma but rather Hurricane Nate. (See the link below). According to the news release, the owner set sail somewhere from the United States in route to the Virgin Islands where he intended to distribute supplies to the victims of Hurricane Irma. While on the way he was forced to abandon the boat due to Hurricane Nate and was rescued by the Coast Guard. The boat eventually washed ashore where it is now. Some of the local good people have contacted the owner who is on his way here now and will be hosting a free the boat part for all volunteers who will be helping to dig the boat out and rescue her. It is an incredible story of people helping people and we want to wish the owner of the Phantom of the Aqua the best of luck and god speed as he will soon again set sail.

Destin, Florida: A Vacation From Our RV Vacation on the Gulf of Mexico's Emerald Coast
This is the last stop on the Great American Road Trip travel vlog. We just relax for a couple of days at the Emerald Coast, frolicking in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, eat some fabulous seafood, and then drive all the way to Panama City. Here we wish we were traveling in a van because there are many place we would love to stop for a bite or just enjoy the surf.
From the blog:
We are reaching the home stretch, the end of our epic road trip. In this last installment, the idea is to take a vacation from our vacation and do something totally different. We are just going to relax in the white sand and warm waters of the Emerald Coast of Florida. This is located in the Florida panhandle, on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico.
We are splurging in one of the most expensive and coveted RV Parks in the United States, Camp Gulf, in Destin Florida. Our two nights here will be a grand total of $445 for a beachfront site. Is it worth it? You can be the judge of that but I thoroughly enjoyed waking up a stone throw away from the water. Our time here is spent as follows: beach, beer, seafood, repeat.
Well there's a little more than that, and we did certain things line eating a freshly made Krispy Kreme, which didn't make it to the video. Why it didn't? Well I had my hands full of Krispy Kreme glaze goodness and didn't want to touch my phone.
As we begin our return trip to South Florida, we cruise along, hugging the coast all the way to Panama City. I the video you get treated to a mesmerizing time lapse as we pass by all the Gulf Coast communities. Eventually we get on the interstate and after a long, long drive we make it to the 305, the local pseudonym for Miami.

Harry T's, Harbor Walk Village and the Destin Boat Parade!
What an amazing day to visit Harry T's Lighthouse in Destin and watch the Destin Boat Parade!
Harry T's is always fun to visit! Great food, amazing views and really cool history! Harry T's Lighthouse is a restaurant that commemorates the life of Harrison Thomas Babe, (Harry T for short) who opened a commercial boat house in the early 1920s that served as a hang, out for the locals. That boathouse is long gone but what remains are the celebration of his memories at the modern Harry T's boathouse located at Harbor Walk Village.
The Destin Boat Parade is very popular so we decided to arrive early to ensure we got a good parking area and spot at the restaurant. This allowed us ample time to explore Harbor, Walk Village and take advantage of the amazing views of the Gulf of Mexico it offers. We managed to make it atop the presidential level at the Emerald Grand where we were able to catch some awesome video of the water!
While watching the video you might notice the sound of construction crews. These guys are putting in the and extremely important barrier to help preserve the small peninsula of sand you can see which separates the east pass and Destin harbor known as Noriega Point. Massive amounts of that have eroded away in the last few years and these guys are doing their best to protect what's left.
During this video I decided not to put times down like we do in our normal videos because I thought it just wasn’t fair. As I mentioned the boat parade is very popular and the restaurant was super crowded this day and we were warned by the friendly staff ahead of time they were running a bit behind. We were totally fine with that as we were waiting on the parade to start anyway.
If you are ever in Destin we highly recommend checking out Harbor Walk Village and Harry T's. Do your best to get a Harry T's key chain and you will be among a small group of people who enjoy special prices and VIP seating.
Below are recommended websites to check out. Also, be sure to watch the AJs video we mention several times during the video! (link below)
