Nanaimo Museum: The Nanaimo Bastion is one of the historical octagon which is shaped like a fortification which is located at 98 Front Street in Nanaimo, BC, Canada. Hudson’s Bay Company, then held a royal lease on what all it was.
This museum was built in between 1853 – 1855 to defend all of its coal mining operations in Nanaimo.

Early September each year sees the magic of the return of pink salmon to spawn in Nanaimo's Millstone River, where special salmon ladders and spawning ponds have been created just a few hundred meters upstream from the river mouth in Nanaimo Harbour.
For a short time, anglers flock at high tide along the shore or wade into the intertidal zone with spinning rods and fly rods to try to land one of these pink treasures, right beside iconic Maffeo Sutton Park along the Harbourfront Walkway.
This special place is 8 minutes from Living Forest Oceanside Campground & RV Park (livingforest.com). Driving directions:

Parksville Homeless Riots Spread to Nanaimo.
Fear Grows as Parksville Homeless Riots Spread to Nanaimo, Vancouver Island's second largest city. What started as a small uprising of the homeless in the sleepy seaside resort town of Parksville, has grown into widespread crime and rioting with significant property damage in Nanaimo as a result.
Nanaimo is a city and ferry port on the east coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada. At its heart, the Nanaimo Museum displays exhibits on the city’s industries and indigenous peoples. Near the Harbourfront Walkway, the Bastion is an 1853 wooden tower with cannon firings in summer.
