-----------------------------------------------
So much for this being a man's world... an 18-year-old GIRL is banishing male stereotypes after becoming Britain's youngest LORRY DRIVER.
Going into the family trucking business was always on the cards for Jess Stubbs, as both dad Graham and older sister Lucy are masters of the motorways.
And despite her grammar school upbringing and promising university outlook, determined Jess ditched books for trucks and is now the youngest qualified HGV driver in the country.
As soon as Derbyshire lass Jess passed her driving test at 17 she began helping out at her dad's farming company Bliss Bedding - moving vans, heavy machinery and smaller vehicles.
Currently the legal age to hold a HGV driving licence is 18 and Jess, who passed first time, was in no mood to wait around.
Jess said: I've been working at my dad's business for years - everyone knew me as 'Baby Trucker'. As soon as I could, I took my test and passed first time with just four minors.
For me it wasn't always about going to university - it was about doing what you enjoy. Just because I'm a lorry driver doesn't mean I can't enjoy girly things.
When I'm not on the road I enjoy anything girls my age enjoy. Me and my sister love having our hair and nails done and enjoying nights out.
Growing up on a farm, Jess has never been afraid of getting her hands dirty and getting stuck into manual labour.
And with sister Lucy, 24, the pair have had to learn how to handle themselves among crowds of burly men.
Jess said: The trucking industry is so male-dominated and it can be really challenging at times to be a young girl surrounded by blokes.
Some of them can be rude, crude and say some really sexist things at times - but most of the time you can have a really good laugh with them.
The trickiest part of Jess' job is manoeuvring a 45ft wagon along country roads near her home and work in Ashbourne, Derbyshire.
The narrow lanes, tight squeezes and sharp blind bends may prove a tough task for even the most accomplished roadsters.
But cool-headed Jess has no difficulty steering her 50 tonne truck - which is an old Eddie Stobart 12.9litre engine DAF XF 95 - around the countryside.
Jess said: My dad, uncles, cousins and sisters are truckers - it runs right through my family. You just have to get used to the driving and once you've cracked it everything's brilliant.
The best part of the job is never knowing where you're going to go - it can be anywhere in the country. One day you're in Scotland surrounded by breath-taking views, the next you're on the south coast.
My friends think it's amazing that I drive lorries as most of them have never even been near one never mind known someone who drives them.
Quite often they like to come on trips with me up and down the country.
Sister Lucy, a mum-of-one, is known as the 'Mother Trucker' and Jess insists there is no better driver.
But when the pair aren't ploughing up and down the M1, they spend quality time together and especially enjoy looking after themselves.
Jess said: We always find time to enjoy ourselves - it's hard work being a woman truck driver. But over the past 20 years more and more women have taken to the road and it's certainly a lot easier that it was.
I wouldn't change my office for anything else in the world.

Hey Adventurers!
In today's adventure we were invited by 20th Century Fox to attend a movie preview screening of a new movie called The Kid Who Would Be King, which opens in theaters Friday, Jan. 25.
We had a fun and action packed day of Movie Watching, Sword Fighting, being Knighted by a real actor in the movie (Lance), touring the London Castle and eating pancakes that were made to look like characters from the film! During our adventure we were able to meet some of the actors in the film who helped us become better knights, let us know if you spotted the actors. The young Merlin taught the kids how to use one of the spells in the film, but someone must have made the wrong hand moves because instead of making money appear we had the Bandits tracker appear. Dad took the tracker and went and gave it to the Queens Guards for safe keeping (hope they did not put it next to the Crown Jewels). Join us on today adventure and get some sneak peaks of the fun new movie The Kid Who Would Be King! And as always Make Today an Adventure!

Awesome Movies From 2019 That Sadly No One's Talking About
Wondering what to watch tonight? There are a bunch of underrated films you may have missed so far this year and they're really worth checking out. Here are a few hidden gems that may have flown under your radar in 2019 - underappreciated movies you already missed in 2019.
The whip-smart comedy Egg stars Alysia Reiner as an artist named Tina, and Gbenga Akinnagbe as her husband, Wayne. Mad Men's Christina Hendricks plays Karen, Tina's so-called best friend from art school a compulsively cruel mother-to-be.
Tina thinks she's gained the upper hand when she invites Karen and her husband Doug played by David Alan Basche over to her New York loft to make a major announcement:
That's thanks to the bubbly blonde surrogate Kiki, portrayed by Anna Camp. She may seem ditzy, but she's certainly not innocent.
Full of biting wit and sharp social commentary, Egg is a fiercely funny comedy of manners that brilliantly explores the weirdness of motherhood.
Directed by Steven Soderbergh, High Flying Bird slyly subverts the sports movie genre in a way that's both stylish and admirably risky. The film centers around sports agent Ray Burke, portrayed by André Holland. After he discovers a loophole during a professional basketball league lockout, Ray hatches a plan that could help him advance his career and fulfill his obligations to Erick, his young basketball client. The prospect of forever changing the world of pro basketball proves hard to resist...
Shot entirely on an iPhone, High Flying Bird has the kind of sleek aesthetic and structure that grabs you by the wrist and pushes you straight down the rabbit hole. The film hit Netflix in early February, right after Velvet Buzzsaw and Russian Doll premiered. A lot of viewers probably missed out on High Flying Bird because they simply had too many options to choose from. The good news is: you can watch it on Netflix right now. Score!
In A Vigilante, actress Olivia Wilde plays Sadie, a domestic abuse survivor who sets out to save other victims from their violent partners. Meanwhile, she continues to hunt down her vile husband, portrayed by Morgan Spector. He's such a despicable man, no one dares speak his name out loud. Keep watching the video to see more Awesome Movies From 2019 That Sadly No One's Talking About!

A Twentieth Century Fox presentation and a Working Title and Big Talk Pictures production, THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING stars Louis Ashbourne Serkis, Tom Taylor, with Rebecca Ferguson and Patrick Stewart. Written and directed by Joe Cornish, the film was produced by Nira Park, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, with James Biddle and Rachael Prior serving as executive producers.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
Based on one of the most famous myths of all time, THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING approaches the legend of King Arthur and his knights in a completely new way, bringing it into the modern world and making it relevant for contemporary audiences.
The seed for THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING has been growing in the mind of writer-director Joe Cornish since he was a child, beginning in 1982 when he saw John Boorman’s ‘Excalibur’ and Steven Spielberg’s ‘E.T.’ Both films had a big impact on the young Cornish, inspiring the beginnings of his idea for a film about an ordinary boy who discovers The Sword in the Stone.
Cornish recalls, “All through my teenage years I drew a little cartoon on my school books of the sword Excalibur coming out of a bathtub – the juxtaposition of the domestic and the modern with the ancient myth. Then I put the idea aside, but it’s slowly been gestating ever since.”
Cornish went on to co-write, direct and star in the long-running British comedy series ‘The Adam and Joe Show.’ He then wrote and directed his first feature ‘Attack the Block’ which earned multiple international awards, including the Audience Award at South by Southwest Festival and a BAFTA nomination. Shortly after, alongside Edgar Wright, he wrote the story and screenplay for Marvel's ‘Ant-Man’ as well as ‘The Adventures of Tintin’ for Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, before eventually returning to his ever-alluring modern-day Sword in the Stone.
Researching for the script, Cornish and producer Nira Park visited schools and asked the pupils how familiar they were with King Arthur and the legend of Excalibur. They found that the children were familiar with the image and idea of Excalibur – that whoever was able to pull the sword from the stone became king – but they were confused about how that fitted in with today’s British royal family. Cornish adds “they knew of the sword but not its repercussions, and I thought that was a cool and interesting place to build from.”
Cornish continues, The idea behind this movie is that myths and legends like the story of King Arthur don’t have a huge amount of basis in historical fact. They’re written and rewritten to suit the needs of the time, and in fact, it’s important that different generations rewrite legends anew for themselves. So when I wrote this script, that was at the forefront of my mind, that I could take what I wanted from existing mythology and use it in the way that I wanted – because that’s what Mallory did, that’s what French poets did, that’s what everybody who followed has done with the Arthurian legend – it’s there for all of us to interpret in our own way.
The heart of the film is based on the chivalric code that the wizard Merlin teaches young Arthur in the legend. This is the set of laws that King Arthur’s knights abided by, which dictated earnest moral behavior – honoring the people you love, persevering, refraining from offense and telling the truth. In the film, Cornish takes that moral code and applies it to modern kids, to see what its value is in today’s world.
He explains, “The kids in this movie go on a journey from being a little bit rough-and-tumble, rude and angry with each other, to a place where they understand the value of that basic moral code and apply it to their modern world. I hope that as well as being an epic action adventure movie full of fun, comedy, and emotion, that there’s also a message for kids that explains the value of these ancient ideals, that they might have some relevance to the way we live today.”
Cornish’s vision for the magic in the film was very clear — he wanted it to feel practical, physical and real-world — as though kids could actually perform it in their own homes. Says the writer-director, “The magic in THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING isn’t the sort of sparkly, spangly, escapist magic that we’re used to seeing in fantasy films. Instead of romanticized ancient spell books and magic wands, our magic is much more physical and practical. When something transforms in our movie you can really feel it. When our Merlin performs magic.

SUMMARY
=======
A timeline of United States inventions (before 1890) encompasses the ingenuity and innovative advancements of the United States within a historical context, dating from the Colonial Period to the Gilded Age, which have been achieved by inventors who are either native-born or naturalized citizens of the United States. Copyright protection secures a person's right to his or her first-to-invent claim of the original invention in question, highlighted in Article I, Section 8, Clause 8 of the United States Constitution, which gives the following enumerated power to the United States Congress:
In 1641, the first patent in North America was issued to Samuel Winslow by the General Court of Massachusetts for a new method of making salt. On April 10, 1790, President George Washington signed the Patent Act of 1790 (1 Stat. 109) into law proclaiming that patents were to be authorized for any useful art, manufacture, engine, machine, or device, or any improvement therein not before known or used. On July 31, 1790, Samuel Hopkins of Pittsford, Vermont became the first person in the United States to file and to be granted a patent for an improved method of Making Pot and Pearl Ashes. The Patent Act of 1836 (Ch. 357, 5 Stat. 117) further clarified United States patent law to the extent of establishing a patent office where patent applications are filed, processed, and granted, contingent upon the language and scope of the claimant's invention, for a patent term of 14 years with an extension of up to an additional 7 years. However, the Uruguay Round Agreements Act of 1994 (URAA) changed the patent term in the United States to a total of 20 years, effective for patent applications filed on or after June 8, 1995, thus bringing United States patent law further into conformity with international patent law. The modern-day provisions of the law applied to inventions are laid out in Title 35 of the United States Code (Ch. 950, sec. 1, 66 Stat. 792).
From 1836 to 2011, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a total of 7,861,317 patents relating to several well-known inventions appearing throughout the timeline below.
