We weren’t sure what to expect out of the hike, it was short and fairly leisurely with the exception of a few hundred steps up and down to the water. The waterfall was pretty and the experience was relaxing. There is bears and cougars in the area so do yourself a favor and be prepared! We didn’t go prepared and we were lucky enough to walk close to a pack of people with dogs, and felt safer that way. The maps were slightly unclear as to where the falls were, we may had been expecting something a bit more spectacular but overall the experience was enjoyable and we would do it again. It was nice to see some of our area. Whitecourt is approx 2 hours from Edmonton Alberta. Hard Luck Canyon is about 20 mins west of Whitecourt. The road was clearly marked and the drive was nice.

Hard Luck Canyon is located in Woodlands County, about 20 kilometres from Whitecourt. It has been a popular spot for visitors in the past but with upgrades done by Woodlands County, the location was officially opened as a tourist destination on June 24, 2010.
