Our video is a guided walk in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. We start with a quick look round Hebden Bridge then on to Hardcastle Crags. Starting our walk from Midgehole car park we walk up Hebden Dale along side Hebden Water stopping to admire the weirs and the newly renovated Gibson Mill. We then head for Hardcastle Crag and Walshaw then over the lower slope of Scackleton Knoll and return down Crimsworth Dean. This an easy to moderate 5 mile walk on good paths through some beautiful woodlands and wonderful views mainly following the Haworth to Hebden Bridge Walk.

Had a little outing to Hardcastle Crags today. Hardcastle Crags is a wooded Pennine valley in West Yorkshire, England, owned by the National Trust. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it lies approximately 2 miles north of the town of Hebden Bridge and 10 miles west of the town of Halifax.

Hebden Bridge is a market town which forms part of Hebden Royd in West Yorkshire, England. Hebden Bridge is in the Upper Calder Valley, 8 miles west of Halifax and 14 miles north-east of Rochdale, at the confluence of the River Calder and the Hebden Water.
Hebden Bridge Town Hall and adjoining fire station is a Grade II listed building, built in 1897. Following local government reorganisation, it became underused. The building was transferred from Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council to Hebden Bridge Community Association on a 40-year lease (now extended to 125 years) on 1 April 2010, along with funds for basic maintenance work.
Hebden Bridge lies close to the Pennine Way and Hardcastle Crags and is popular for outdoor pursuits such as walking, climbing and cycling. It lies on the Rochdale Canal – a through route across the Pennines. The town of Hebden Bridge is on the route of the Calderdale Way, a circular walk of about 50 miles (80 km) around the hills and valleys of Calderdale, and it is connected with the Pennine Way through the Hebden Bridge Loop.
oday tourism is probably the main economic factor in Hebden Bridge, and nearly all shops are open on Sundays. As of Easter 2017, The weekly Market has moved to Lees Yard adjoining the pedestrian centre of St. George Square, and the market days have been increased from two and a half to four full weekly market days: Thursdays to Sundays. Walkley's Clog Mill is one of the country's leading clog manufacturers. It moved from its original home at Falling Royd to a site on Midgley Road in Mytholmroyd.
Hebden Bridge has built a reputation for great little shops and has an unusually high density of independent shops for a UK town of its size with more than 20 cafes and tea rooms, and about 20 pubs, micro pubs and restaurants. In a national survey by the New Economics Foundation in 2010 Hebden Bridge was ranked sixth on a diversity scale and was praised for its independent shops and unique shopping experience.
Hebden Bridge railway station lies on the Calder Valley Line between Manchester Victoria and Leeds City. The Hebden Bridger is a local bus operated by West Yorkshire Metro that serves as a town centre service, also operating to local villages including Heptonstall.

West Yorkshire Country Walk - Hebden Bridge-Calder Valley round
Our video is a guided walk from Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire. We start by walking along the Rochdale Canal tow path then on to Jumble Hole Clough where we admire the remains of Staups Mill, a ruined cotton mill, then continue on to Blackshaw Head. We return to Hebden Bridge through the Calder Valley and Hell Hole Rocks on the Calderdale Way.

SAUNTER. A short cine film I made in 1971 of a walk from Midgehole, Hardcastle Crags, Hebden Bridge, to Widdop Reservoir. The person walking with me was a friend, Brain Waight. The filming was not all done on one day. Included are scenes in the woodland, Gibson Mill, the waterfall and weir near the mill, Blake Dean, The Pack Horse Inn, moors and sheep. Walk 9, Hardcastle Crags, Hebdon Bridge
The Yorkshire Trekker manages to find a break midweek to stroll along the riverside at Hebdon Bridge, beside Hardcastle Crags. A spur of the moment decision to do the walk which left the trekker quite unprepared. Lots of beautiful scenery and cascading waterfalls feature on this walk. No time for silliness, just a calming and delightful trek to feast your eyes on. This walk was filmed on the 5th February.

Yorkshire Hardcastle Crags
This was a walk full of history and scenic water weirs on route. We even saw inside the Gibson Mill exploring the exhibition displays on Cotton Mills. We started from a small car park on Midgehole Road (Sat Nav HX7 7AA) about 2 miles outside of Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire on the A6033. However, It all got a bit too much for one pet dog at the end.

Nutclough Mill and Hebden Bridge - Part 4
In our exploration of the history of Calrec's Nutclough Mill HQ and the town of Hebden Bridge, we've reached the 1960s.
It was a sad time.
The UK clothing industry had begun to import cheaper textiles from the East. One by one, the mills were shut down. Then they were vandalised and gutted by fire. The rivers were in a bad way, poisoned by years of industrial pollution. People were fleeing South in search of work. The town was in terminal decline.
In the mid-Sixties, a group of residents set to work to help make Hebden Bridge a decent place to live again and to restore some civic pride. They began to restore some of the town's most important historic buildings, clear up the rubbish, and clean the rivers. It was the dawn of a new era in the town's fortunes.

The River Hebden at Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, UK - 3rd October, 2012
Footage of the fast flowing peat-brown stained River Hebden as it snakes through the centre of the West Yorkshire Pennine town of Hebden Bridge. The footage begins at Waterside Fold and ends where the River Hebden meets the River Calder. En route it passes Nutclough Mill, children can be seen throwing leaves into the river, and a plastic bottle bobs along the river surface before going over the weir next to Bridge Mill where work is taking place to build a hydro electric power source utilising the power of the river. The next feature is St George's Bridge and the view from it in al directions including the Shoulder of Mutton pub. After this Hebden Old Bridge becomes the focus, where a musician plays a stringed board based instrument. The views then along Old Gate feature the local ducks competing for places in the island eddy of the fast flowing river and a flooded footpath with a partially submerged handrail. Finally the footage ends where the Rivers Hebden and Calder meet.
