Yorkshire Dales Country Walk - Hawes-Hardraw Force-Gayle round
Our video is a guided walk in Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales. We start in the small village of Gayle and walk to Hardraw where we enter the Green Dragon Inn to view the wonderful Hardraw Force then we continue on the Pennine Way to the lovely market town of Hawes before returning back to Gayle. This is an easy to moderate 5.75 mile walk on roads, tracks and through fields with gates and stiles allow 2 hours 30 minutes.

Home of England`s largest single drop waterfall, a reputed 100 foot drop and is set within the grounds of the historic Green Dragon Inn.
Hardraw Force is a spectacular waterfall in a wooded ravine just outside the tiny hamlet of Hardraw near to Hawes at the foot of Buttertubs Pass and the head of Wensleydale in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, where the Pennine Way passes close by.
Comprising a single drop of 100 feet from a rocky overhang, Hardraw Force is claimed to be Britain's highest unbroken waterfall - at least discounting underground falls. [N.B. The waterfall inside nearby Gaping Gill on the western flank of Ingleborough has an unbroken fall of over 300 feet, but that is underground and hidden from view from the surface..]

During my holiday in the Yorkshire Dales in September 2014 I explore the famous Wensleydale. I take a walk around Hawes, the town in which I am staying for the week, and then tour more of Wensleydale with its sweeping countryside, spectacular waterfalls and a village with a tie to a certain TV series shown back in the 1970s and 1980s.
Filmed in the Yorkshire Dales in the county of North Yorkshire featuring Wensleydale. Locations include Gayle, Hawes, Hardraw Force, Bainbridge, Askrigg and Aysgarth Falls.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.
Any other names credited in this film, i.e. Bob Morgan and Martin Roy, are pseudonyms, which I used at the time of making this film. However, I no longer use these pseudonyms as I want viewers to be clear that my films are completely my own work.

A Ride to the Green Dragon Pub, then a walk to Hardraw Force, then after lunch a ride into Hawes to the Dales Visitor Centre and wait for the family walking across fields to meet me at the Park .

This is Hardraw Waterfall which is the highest free falling unbroken waterfall in England.
Kevin Costner bathed here in the movie Robin Hood Prince of Thieves (1991). You gain access to this waterfall through The Green Dragon Pub. There is a charge of £2 for adults and £1 for children, under 5s free. Enter DL8 3LZ into your Sat Nav and it will take you right to the pubs door.

We visited Hardraw force just outside Hawes in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire. You have to enter the Green Dragon Inn and then walk through the grounds to get to the waterfall. It is the highest single drop waterfall in England.
