Harihar fort / Harshagad is a fort located 48 km from Igatpuri, Nashik district, of Maharashtra. It is an important fort in Nashik district, and was constructed to look upon the trade route through Gonda Ghat. It receives many visitors because of its peculiar rock-cut steps.
here are two base villages of the fort, Harshewadi and Nirgudpada. The Harshewadi is 13 km from Trymbakeshwar.The other base village of the fort is Nirgudpada/Kotamvadi which is 48 km from Igatpuri which itself is 48 km from Nashik and 154 km from Mumbai.

नाशिक जिल्ह्यातील _ हरिहर किल्ला त्र्यंबक रांगेतील प्रमुख किल्ला आहे. प्राचिन काळापासून महाराष्ट्रातील बंदरात उतरणारा माल अनेक घाट मार्गांनी नाशिकच्या बाजारपेठेत जात असे. यातील त्र्यंबक रांगेतून जाणार्‍या गोंडा घाटावर लक्ष ठेवण्यासाठी हरीहर भास्करगड यांची उभारणी करण्यात आली होती.
नाशिकच्या पश्चिमेस आणि इगतपूरीच्या उत्तरेस त्र्यंबक रांग पसरलेली आहे हरिहर आणि त्रिंबकगड हे किल्ले येतात.. वैतरणा ही या परिसरातील प्रमुख नदी आहे. पायथ्याच्या गावातून हरिहर आयताकृती भासतो.

Harihar fort appears to be rectangular in shape from its base village. It is built on a triangular prism of rock. Its three faces and two edges are absolutely vertical (90 degrees). The third edge towards the west is inclined at an angle of 75 degrees. A one metre wide rocky staircase with niches in it is carved out for ascending & descending the fort. There are 117 steps in all. After you climb the first rocky staircase (main entrance) we walk thru below a overhang with a sheer drop. Again one has to climb a set of steep stairs (with niches), then pass thru a staircase inside the rock and then reach the top of the fort. The view from the top is excellent. After climbing these steps, we get up to the entrance door. The fort has got a tapering plateau with a raised level in the middle. There is a small temple of Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva on the plateau. A small pond is there in front of this temple. Water from this pond can be used for drinking. Making headway from here we come across a palace having two rooms in it. 10 to 12 persons can be accommodated in this palace.

ഹരിഹർ ഫോർട്ട്
സാഹസികത ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവർക്ക് വരാൻ പറ്റിയ ഒരു ഫോർട്ട് ആണിത്. ഭയങ്കര thrilling ആയിട്ടുള്ള experiene ആണ് ഇത് നമുക്ക് സമ്മാനിക്കുന്നത്.മഴക്കാലത്തുള്ള ട്രെക്കിങ്ങ് സഹസികതയേറിയതാണ് നല്ല വഴുക്കൽ ഉണ്ട്.മൊത്തം കോടമഞ്ഞു കൊണ്ട് മൂടിയിരിക്കും. വേനൽക്കാലത്ത് ആണേൽ comparatively റിസ്ക് കുറവാണ് കാഴ്ചകൾ മൊത്തം ആസ്വദിക്കാനും പറ്റും.
കേരളത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഇങ്ങോട്ട് എത്തുന്നതിനുള്ള മാർഗം ആണ് ഇതിൽ പ്രതിപാദിക്കുന്നത്.
കേരളത്തിൽ നിന്ന് നാസിക്കിൽക്ക് train കയറുക. അവിടെ നിന്ന് ത്രിംബകേശ്വർ ആണ് നമുക്കു പോകേണ്ട സ്ഥലം direct ബസ് കിട്ടണമെങ്കിൽ നമ്മൾ റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷനിൽ നിന്ന് ഓട്ടോ വിളിച്ചു C. B.S {Central Bus stand } പോകേണ്ടി വരും.150 രൂപയാണ് ഓട്ടോ ചാർജ്. അവിടെ നിന്ന് ത്രിംബകേശ്വർ പോകാൻ ബസ് കിട്ടുന്നതാണ്.14 കിലോമീറ്റർ ദൂരം കാണും..40 രൂപയാണ് ഒരാൾക്കു വരുന്ന ബസ് ചാർജ്.
ത്രിംബകേശ്വർ എത്തിയാൽ അമ്പലത്തിനു അടുത്ത് തന്നെ റൂം കിട്ടുന്നതാണ് ഒരു ദിവസം 300 രൂപ എന്ന നിലയിൽ റൂം ലഭിക്കും.
അവിടെ നിന്ന് നിർഗുഡ്പാഥ എന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തിലേക്കാണ് പോകേണ്ടത്.. അതിന് share taxi സമീപിക്കുന്നതാണ് ലാഭം.ഇവിടെ ബസ് റൂട്ട് കുറവാണ് എല്ലാവരും കൂടുതൽ share taxi ആണ് ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നത്..കഴിവതും വൈകുന്നേരം ആവുന്നതിനും മുൻപ് ഫോർട്ട് കേറി ഇറങ്ങാൻ നോക്കുക.രാത്രി ആയാൽ വാഹനഗതാഗതം പൂർണമായും ഇല്ലാതാകും.ഒരാൾക്കു 40/50 രൂപ വരികയുള്ളൂ. അവിടെ എത്തിയാൽ അവിടെ ഉള്ള ഗ്രാമവസികളെ ഗൈഡ് ആക്കുന്നതാണ് ഉചിതം..ഗൈഡ് ഇല്ലാതെ ഞങ്ങൾ പോയി വഴി തെറ്റി ഒരു ദിവസം നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടതാണ്.
100 മുതൽ 400 വരെ അവർ വാങ്ങിക്കുന്നതാണ്.
100 രൂപക്ക് ഫോർട്ടിന്റെ അടിഭാഗം വരെ എത്തിച്ചശേഷം അവർ പോകുന്നതാണ്. പൈസ കൂടുന്നതിനനുസരിച്ചു അവർ നമുക്കു കൂടുതൽ സഹായകമാകും. 1 മണിക്കൂർ കുറവിൽ നമുക്കു മലകയറി ഫോർട്ടിന്റെ അടിയിൽ എത്താം
പിന്നെ നമുക്കു കാണുന്നത് 80° കോണളവിൽ പാറക്കല്ലിൽ തീർത്ത പടികൾ ആണ്.. പേടി തോന്നുമെങ്കിലും ഒരു വാശി എന്ന പോലെ നമുക്കു കീഴടക്കാം തോന്നും ഈ കോട്ടയെ. 12 മിനുറ്റ് കൊണ്ട് ആ പടികളും നമുക്കു കേറാം.കയറുന്നവർക്ക് ഗ്രിപ്പ് കിട്ടുന്നതിനായി പടികളിൽ പിടിക്കാൻ പാകത്തിന് ചെറിയ കുഴികൾ കാണാം.. അത് നമുക്കു ധൈര്യം കൂട്ടി തരുന്നു.
നാസിക് ജില്ലയിലെ ഒരു പ്രധാന കോട്ടയാണിത്. ഗോണ്ട ഘാട്ടിലൂടെയുള്ള വ്യാപാര പാത കാണാനാണ് ഇത് നിർമ്മിച്ചത്,
പങ്കജ് പഞ്ചാരിയ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലാണ് ഹരിഹർ കോട്ട പണിതത്. ട്രിംബാക്കിനും മറ്റ് പൂന കോട്ടകൾക്കുമൊപ്പം ഇത് 1636 ൽ ഖാൻ സമാമിന് കീഴടങ്ങി. . 18 മറ്റ് കോട്ടകൾക്കൊപ്പം 1818 ൽ ക്യാപ്റ്റൻ ബ്രിഗ്സ് കോട്ട പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു
ഒരു വ്യക്തിക്ക് മാത്രമേ ഒരു സമയം കയറാൻ കഴിയൂ. കോട്ടയിലും പ്രാദേശിക ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും താമസം സാധ്യമാണ്.
കോട്ടയിലെ പണ്ടത്തെ വീടുകളുടെ അവശിഷ്ടങ്ങളും ഇപ്പോളും നില കൊള്ളുന്ന ഒരു കരിങ്കല്ല് കൊണ്ടുള്ള മുറിയും. ഹനുമാൻ, ശിവൻ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ഉള്ള ചെറിയ അമ്പലം. ചെറുതും വലുതുമായ കുളങ്ങൾ. ജലസംഭരണികൾ. underground ജയിൽ ഇതൊക്കെ അടങ്ങുന്നതാണ് ഹരിഹർ ഫോർട്ട്.

Harihar fort also known as Harshagad is a fort located 48 km from Igatpuri, Nashik district, of Maharashtra. It is an important fort in Nashik district, and was constructed to look upon the trade route through Gonda Ghat. It receives many visitors because of its peculiar rock-cut steps.
There are two base villages of the fort, Harshewadi and Nirgudpada. Climbing from harshewadi is easier than the nirgudpada village till we reach a scarp.

Harihar fort / Harshagad is a fort located 40km from Nashik City, 48 km from Igatpuri, 40 km from Ghoti in Nashik district, of Maharashtra. How to reach:-
1)Take a local train and get down at Kasara station.
2)Hire Private Jeep till base village - Nirgudpada village ????
3)From nirgudpada village you can start your trek which takes approx 2 to 3hrs to reach top.

Harihar fort appears to be rectangular in shape from its base village. It is built on a triangular prism of rock. Its three faces and two edges are absolutely vertical 90 degrees. The third edge towards the west is inclined at an angle of 75 degrees. A one-meter wide rocky staircase with niches in it is carved out for ascending & descending the fort.
There are 117 steps in all. After you climb the first rocky staircase main entrance we walk thru below an overhang with a sheer drop. Again one has to climb a set of steep stairs with niches, then pass thru a staircase inside the rock like Peth Fort - Kothaligad Fort and then reach the top of the fort. The view from the top is excellent. After climbing these steps, we get up to the entrance door. The fort has got a tapering plateau with a raised level in the middle. There is a small temple of Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva on the plateau. A small pond is there in front of this temple. Water from this pond can be used for drinking.
Making headway from here we come across a palace having two rooms in it. 10 to 12 persons can be accommodated in this palace. One of the vertical drops of the fort facing the Nirgudpada village is called 'Scottish kada', perhaps because it was climbed for the first time in November 1986 by Doug Scott, the legendary Himalayan mountaineer & took him two days to do the climb. This cliff is about 170 meters in height.
