Foreword:
Health tourism has grown in popularity over the last decade, with people (particularly in the west) regularly travelling to other countries, even continents, for medical procedures.
The majority are cosmetic, and the motivation for travel continues to be for financial reasons. The new health tourism concept introduced at Harrison's Point, Barbados, far exceeds the general understanding of the term. Designed principally for prostate and breast cancer patients, this healthcare experience combines ground-breaking Civa-String LDR source brachytherapy treatment, with rest and relaxation at a dedicated 5-star resort set within the beautiful surroundings of the Caribbean.
This innovative care model looks to de-medicalise the treatment process; holistic well-being is paramount, enabling the patient to better deal with the medical procedure and process of getting well. The stress and heartache of a cancer diagnosis- and the prospect of painful and debilitating therapy, often associated with other types of cancer treatment- is significantly reduced through quick and effective diagnosis and treatment in one of our modern clinics at Harmony Sands. The recovery statistics of Civa-String LDR brachytherapy are truly impressive- as is the speed of the treatment process. Only one surgical intervention is required; this is undertaken within the first two/three days of a two-week break, leaving the rest of the time to enjoy a holiday.
The treatment experience is enhanced by rest and relaxation within our contemporary, state-of-the-art, hotels and spar facilities, all set within beautiful landscaped gardens. The hotel rooms offer the ultimate in comfort and luxury. Guests also have full access to first-class restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as spar facilities, offering an extensive range of complementary therapies. Each hotel has an infinity pool, a gym, and a roof-top sundeck, giving breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean. There are also entertainment facilities on site.
The resort fronts onto a marina with a host of shops and additional venues to eat and socialise. A beach of white sand and turquoise sea is the backdrop to the marina and the resort. Guests have full access to shuttle buses and boat trips that are available to explore the island and to visit neighbouring destinations.

The Barbados Historic Railway Story
The video was taken on the St. Nicholas Abbey Historic Railway {SNAHR) Tour. It's an amazing story of the vintage trains and railways the operated in Barbados many years ago, The SNAHR tour is a step back in time. There is something enchanting about those old steam engines and the story telling and tour brings it all to life.

East Point Lighthouse
A beautiful landmark lighthouse on the easternmost tip of Prince Edward Island. The only remaining active lighthouse built during Canada's confederation, the East Point Lighthouse is about to celebrate 150 years of keeping watch over the safety of ships plying the waters of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and the Northumberland Strait.

Affectionately nicknamed the 'Fun Coast', the beaches and bays on the South Coast of Barbados are in the parishes of St Michael and Christ Church. While there is something for everyone at the various beaches and bays on the South Coast, these locations will probably appeal most to the fun-loving, thrill-seeking, adventurous tourists looking for fun all day and all night, rather than to those preferring peace, quiet and relaxation.
The South Coast of Barbados is heavily populated with endless nightclubs, restaurants, bars and hotels, and venues such as the Boatyard allow tourists to 'have fun and party' twenty four hours a day. By far the best nightlife spot in Barbados is in St. Lawrence Gap, where the streets are lively and buzzing night and day. Source: Barbados Pocket Guide

Harrison's Cave, Barbados in 3D
Popular Cruise line excursion from Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas.
The first part of the video is a brief instruction on how the Island was formed millions of years ago and how these geological changes over time led to the formation of this medium sized cave open to tourists as a guided group tour. The trip through the cave is good for people with mobility health problems because most of it is by a tram that drives you through the tunnels. Several places we stopped for pictures. The passage is wet and water constantly drips from the ceiling but the temperature is very comfortable.
This video was shot with a Sony Handycam HDRTD10 in 3D. You may need red/cyan glasses to view or if you have a 3D TV you may have to select side by side mode and use your TV's recommended glasses. Otherwise, you can switch to 2D in a standard You Tube player in the settings.
I used a small LED light to improve the lighting but the guide didn't like it and asked me not to turn it up so bright.

Abandoned Lighthouse in Barbados!?! Sunset Time-lapse
This abandoned lighthouse, to me, is the best place to watch sunset in Barbados
FREE EBOOK BELOW!!
Barbados has some of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. There are many great places to watch the sunset go down, but the best place to watch the sunset is the Harrison Point Light house.
It is located on the north west section of the Barbados on an old abandoned US Navy base that was active up until the 70’s. Sense then the base had been turned into a temporary prison after the main prison in Barbados was burnt down, but now it is just a bunch of forgot about buildings and the incredible lighthouse. The whole place is over grown with stunning wild flowers and plant life giving this spot a really cool feel to it.
After I found this to be the most beautiful place to watch a sunset in Barbados, I knew I wanted to create a time-lapse video of it. I have my Sony a6000 set up on top of the lighthouse, and my Canon 7D Mark ii set up below. Tell me in the comment below which camera captured the better time-lapse!
If you want to find the location of the lighthouse, check out my free ebook “Top Five Scenic Location in Barbados” which has photos and a clickable link that will show you the spots location on a map!
