Peel Yalgorup Wetlands System
The Mandurah Estuary, Peel Inlet, Harvey Estuary and the region’s many lakes, rivers and conservation reserves form the Peel-Yalgorup Wetland System, which was declared of International Importance in 1990 by the Ramsar Convention.
The estuary is the largest and most diverse estuarine complex and the most important area for migratory and resident waterbirds in south west Australia. They support unique and critically endangered communities, including the thrombolites at Lake Clifton which are over 2,000 years old.
Bring your binoculars and grab the ‘Birdwatching Walking Trail Guide’ at the Mandurah Visitor Centre or download from visitpeel.com.au and start exploring by land, boat or canoe.

Mandurah (32°31′S, 115°43′E) is a city sixty minutes' drive (72 km) south of Perth, Western Australia. Mandurah is the fastest-growing regional city in Australia, having experienced hypergrowth for several years. The city grew from isolated holiday communities along the shores of the Peel-Harvey Estuary, and, with the growth of Perth, it has become a popular lifestyle alternative. Mandurah's connection with the Perth CBD has been strengthened with the opening of the Perth-Mandurah railway line in December, 2007. A housing affordability survey of 227 cities in the 2008 ranked it the least affordable city in Australia. [2] The city centre foreshore is home to a variety of wildlife including dolphins, pelicans, shags, and an abundance of marine life including the blue manna crab which has become synonymous with the area. The city welcomes thousands of tourists every year, including many international visitors. Mandurah is famous for its protected waterways, superb beaches and excellent boating and fishing activities. 'Feels Like Home' at Karrinyup
Karrinyup Shopping Centre collaborated with The Salvation Army in August 2016 to bring added comfort, security and warmth to those who need it most— women and children escaping family violence.
The centre’s ‘Feels Like Home’ campaign encouraged visitors to donate from a selected wish list of household items from Karrinyup retailers. Local stylist and blogger Kyree Harvey of @misskyreeloves styled the campaign, leading the charge for the makeover day which transformed The Salvation Army refuge.
Customers could show their support by visiting the ‘Feels Like Home’ display in Centre Court between Monday 8 August and Sunday 21 August. All donations over $10 received a free ‘Feels Like Home’ calico shopping bag, plus for a gold coin donation customers could leave a message of encouragement on the giant HOME letters set up at centre court, which were given directly to the women and children in need.
THANK YOU to the generous Karrinyup community who helped us raise over $6,000! Watch our You Tube Video here when we took all the items to the Salvation Army homes for a makeover day at the refuge styled by Kyree!

Hoffman’s Mill Campsite near Logue Brook Dam
Hoffman's Mill Campsite near Logue Brook Dam WA Lake Brockman Western Australia. South of Waroona, turn left and head towards Logue Brook Dam. Due to being in a Water Catchment Zone the camp is only open from November, through to April. Best to check the Dpaw website for confirmation. A suprising find was the flushing toilets in the main camp, not the usual drop toilets and availability of water for washing and cleaning dishes. No Drinking water. Hoffman’s Mill is one-hour-and-45-minute drive south of Perth via the South West Highway. Harvey Visitor Centre en route for maps and tips on where to see the best of the spring wildflowers.
In the 1920s , the small timber-milling town of Hoffman Mill was one of many dotted throughout the forest. Today, the general store, post office, community hall, school and workers’ homes are gone, but you can still find remnants of the settlement and mill amid the fig and peach trees by the river.
