Japan's Most Terrifying Bridge: Eshima Ohashi ★ ONLY in JAPAN #33
It's been nicknamed the ROLLER COASTER BRIDGE because of it's super steep slope and appearance of being a bridge to the sky.
That's the Eshima Ohashi Bridge straddling Shimane and Tottori prefecture in Japan.
Facts about the Eshima Ohashi:
★ 1,446 meters long
★ 250 meters of continupus concrete in the center (the third longest Ramen bridge in the world!)
★ 6.1% grade slope on the Shimane Prefecture side
★ 5.1% grade on the Tottori side
★ The bridge needed to be high in the center to allow large shops to pass under.
☆ From the Shimane side, you can get the optical illusion view at the end of the street by the sea.
☆ If you have a good telephoto lens, go even further to the other side of the sea for a better shot. (Map below)
The bridge has a good pedestrian footpath on both sides of the road.
Bicycles are not allowed on the footpath so stay on the main road with the car, to the left side.
There is an observation point on the top that offers sweeping views all the way to Daisen (mountain).
The closest major access point is Yonago Station and airport on the Sea of Japan. From there, take a train to Sakaiminato and rent a bicycle or grab a taxi.
Sakaiminato is also famous for Japanese anime and the main street is like a museum of monsters!
The bridge is a 20 minute ride from Sakai Minato.
Take food with you from the station.

Arirang Prime-Danba Manganese Mine, a history of forced labor
My Name is Arirang
The period of Japanese Forced Occupation was the most painful part of history in Korea. During that time, Arirang was the medicine for wounded souls, and to Korean Japanese people, the very translation of Arirang meant more than a mere folk song, but the essence of home and a symbol of longing and love for their homeland Korea.
Koreatown of Osaka established on Japanese Imperialism
Ikuno, Osaka, has the largest community of ethnic Koreans in Japan. It is also known as the center of the Korean Wave. Although a market consisting of many Korean stores is located there today, it used to be an area so bad for living it was known as the field for raising pigs. Koreans who were taken by force settled around Hirano River and undertook difficult jobs that were rejected by the Japanese people. Their steps are retraced with a 2nd generation Korean Japanese, Jo Park.
Danba Manganese Mine, a history of forced labor
Danba Manganese Mine is the last remaining mine in Osaka that shows the evidence of forced labor. Many Koreans were taken there by force and treated like slaves. If they were caught trying to escape, they were imprisoned and beaten. The Danba Manganese Memorial tells their stories. Lee Yong-sik, the director of the memorial, has been managing the foundation after his father, who was a first generation Korean Japanese. How did the mine and the workers look back then? What kind of message is the Mine Arirang trying to send on their behalf?
My identity, Arirang.
Korean Japanese arrived in Japan about 100 years ago and lived a hard life. They were also very confused about their identity because they were neither Korean nor Japanese. While many stories about Korea that were passed from mouth to mouth became milestones in their search for themselves, Arirang influenced them the most. Korean Japanese Lee Jeong-mi, Song Bu-ja, and Ahn Seong-min share their Arirang.

Beichuan county reconstruction begins
Preliminary work on reconstructing quake-hit Beichuan County has begun. The newly rebuilt area will cover 10 square kilometers and house more than 10 thousand residents.
Shunyi village is one of the targets of the reconstruction project.
A demolition team and local officials are carefully measuring houses that will be knocked down. They aim to ensure people are adequately housed in new accommodation.
Several people will oversee the process of measuring the homes which will be demolished.
A Village representative of Shunyi village, said, We will try to make sure it is satisfactory for everyone. If you have any doubts or question, just tell us.
The total area of Zhang Zhenghai's two-storey house is 274 square meters, including farmland and crops. Zhang will get 20 thousand yuan compensation in total.
Mu Quanjin, Deputy director of Land Resources Bureau, Beichuan, said, Things that cannot be moved, such as stoves and water pools, even pipes, will all be compensated for. Trees and equipment are also included.
Zhang will eventually get a new 105 square meter apartment.
Before reconstruction work is complete, every family member will receive a 150 yuan subsidy each month.
All the residents in the area where houses will be demolished will be covered by social insurance. They will also be guaranteed a stable salary after they move.
Today's Shunyi village will become the town center of the rebuilt county, with libraries, cultural centers, a quake memorial building, a Qiang folk museum and a history museum.
The new county will employ a lot of workers, in particular the Beichuan-Shandong industrial park. Free vocational training will be given in cloth manufacturing, construction and tourism.
Mu also said, There is no problem for living here, and we are confident the living standards of residents will be greatly improved. Life here will be better.
Land requisition and house demolition will be completed before the end of March, and work on constructing the new Beichuan County will start in April.

Calamity Jane | American Legend | Old American Wild West | HD
Calamity Jane, (May 1, 1852 – August 1, 1903), was an American frontierswoman and professional scout known for being an acquaintance of Wild Bill Hickok and fighting against Native Americans. Late in her life, she appeared in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and at the 1901 Pan-American Exposition. She is said to have exhibited compassion to others, especially to the sick and needy. This facet of her character contrasted with her daredevil ways and helped to make her a noted frontier figure. She was also known for her habit of wearing men's clothing.
