Ghost Tour 2019 Fort Myers
We decided on our trip to Pine Island that since it was October we just had to do a ghost tour. Where do find one? Fort Myers.
So we found True Tours that offered a ghost tour for $15.00 a person. For 90 minutes you get a tour around the area , hear interesting stories of the past and experience spooky areas. Our tour guide was very entertaining and informative. She was a little jumpy as well as we encountered some cats in an alley way unexpectedly. I think they frightened a few of the guests as well so she wasn’t alone. But it made it more fun. It was hot that evening and they gave us a paper fan which I have to say did come in handy. Bring some water with you as there is a distance that you walk and when it’s hot you need to stay hydrated. Take a lot of pictures and it’s encouraged to take pictures but you can’t video.
So if you want a fun Fall activity, give true tours a try. It was a great night out and some of us might of had an encounter. So check it for yourself to determine if Fort Myers is haunted. True tours have other tours as well. We weren’t able to do them but I am sure it is worth it. Enjoy your journey from Woodland Vacations.

Urbex: ABANDONED SUBDIVISION Florida
Exploring an abandoned subdivision in West Central Florida known as Hillside Estates, a housing project. The project consists of 90 units built in the 1970s. According to media sources, several past board members of the Brooksville Housing Authority were misusing funds provided to them by the U.S. Housing and Urban Development as well as not following policy guidelines. They couldn't afford to keep up with the ongoing maintenance and repairs to the homes forcing the residents to relocate with rental vouchers. Because only so many vouchers could be released at one time, there was a staggered exodus from the properties. The residents starting moving out in September of 2012 with everyone expected to be gone by December 2012. Below is a link of one of the news articles that paints more detail:

Driving through Downtown Fort Myers, Florida at Night
The River District is and is not a typical Fort Myers -- or Florida for that matter -- attraction. The city’s downtown has a concentration of low-profile buildings erected in the early 1900s through the Florida building boom of the 1920s.
Still, like so many of America’s downtowns, the civic operations (city hall, county courthouse, library and a U.S. courthouse, among them) couldn’t save it when suburban shopping malls beckoned. Oh, the lawyers stayed, and they still have plenty of offices on these brick-lined streets, but downtown became something of a ghost town.

Visit the Edison & Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers
Not many people know that automotive industry titan Henry Ford once worked for the great inventor Thomas Edison, or that they became good friends — or that they had summer homes next to each other in Fort Myers. Today, the Edison and Ford Estates are among the 10 most visited historic homes in the United States. Highlights include something for everyone: demonstrations using the equipment in Edison's research lab, behind-the-scenes views of the estate buildings themselves and horticultural tours of the grounds' extensive gardens.
