Where in Iowa is Jeff?...The Sequel
Here is the 2008 version of Where in Iowa is Jeff? From February to November, I logged 9,850 miles and collected 300 dancing clips. Between the 2007 and 2008 videos, I visited all 99 Iowa counties and drove somewhere between 15,000 and 18,000 miles.
Since last year focused on the top-tier Iowa spots, this years video visits more obscure Iowa places and enabled me to interact more with Iowans along the way. If you think you've seen all of Iowa, you are wrong. Keep looking; you'll be amazed at what you find.

DJI Phantom 3 Professional 0007-Manning German Hausbarn
Brought over from Germany and assembled here in Manning in 1996, the German Hausbarn is the pride and joy of the Manning Community Foundation.
The Hausbarn is a unique structure in that it consists of living quarters not only for the family, with bedrooms, sitting, dining and cooking areas, but also areas for housing livestock, farm equipment and feed. Everything under one roof! Hausbarns were a common form of dwelling throughout several areas of Germany, especially in Schleswig-Holstein in the northwest part of Germany. Many of the residents of Manning are descendants from this particular region.
The Hausbarn at Manning’s Hausbarn-Heritage Park was originally built in 1660. Due to many years of political conflict and boundary changes in Europe, it can boast it stood in Austria, Prussia, Denmark and of course, Germany, before it was dismantled and sent to Manning, Iowa where it has been re-assembled and preserved. If this historic Hausbarn could talk, it would tell stories of being governed by Princes, Dictators, a British Occupation Force and finally, a Democracy. It has survived state wars, tribal boundary disputes and two world wars.

DJI Phantom 3P 0464- Newly Painted Manning, IA Watertower 7-13-2017
Manning, IA just put the finishing touches on a new paint job for their elevated Water tower located near the center of town. Work was completed 7-13-2017 by Central Tank Coatings Co. of Elgin, IA.
History:
In service by 1903, this water tower was designed by Henry Brunnier, Manning native, and his college professor, Anston Marston. Henry Brunnier was an undergrad engineering student at Iowa State University from 1901-1905.
Professor Marston had built the first elevated steel tank west of the Mississippi in Ames just a few years prior to helping construct Manning's tower. Brunnier had discussions with Manning's City Council after his freshman year of engineering school, and enlisted Martson’s help in designing Manning’s steel water tower. The Manning tower is the second elevated steel tank to be built west of the Mississippi.
Henry Brunnier went on to become a famous engineer and his other works included being one of five engineers to design the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
This water tower is currently being considered for the National Register of Historic Places. The Manning water tower was used in the 2008 RAGBRAI logo designed by the Des Moines Register.
