Hawaii Trip
In November of 2015, I visited the 50th state to join the U.S.: Hawai’i. When I first planned to go a year before, my mom told me, “You’re taking me with you,” and later my sister was on the trip making it a 3-person adventure. I had never been to Hawai’i, my mom had last been to Hawai’i about 43 years ago so she was certainly itching to return, and my sister had only been at the Honolulu airport.
This video is the trip from my perspective as there were a couple of activities that I partook in that my mom and sister did not.
The trip itinerary went as follows:
Day 1 - fly from home (DC area for my mom and me, Tampa area for my sister) to Honolulu on Oahu (we had a connection in Salt Lake City) and check out some of Waikiki
Day 2 - visit the Foster Botanical Garden and later go hiking at Diamond Head
Day 3 - bus tour of Pearl Harbor, Punchbowl Crater, and downtown Honolulu before seeing Rainbow Tower where my mom had stayed the last time she was in Hawai’i
Day 4 - swimming at Waikiki Beach, road trip around the island of Oahu where we stopped at Hanauma Bay, many lookouts, and watched the sunset at Sunset Point (we made it about a minute before the sun started dipping below the horizon) before checking out Waimea Beach and heading back to Honolulu
Day 5 - flying to Hilo, checking in at the hotel, and exploring Moku o Lo’e (Coconut Island)
Day 6 - I went hiking through Hilo starting at the Boiling Pots along the Wailuku River, checking out Rainbow Falls, going into downtown Hilo, and seeing the Japanese gardens
Day 7 - I went on a doors-off helicopter tour of the lava flows, waterfalls, and downtown Hilo before walking to meet up with my mom and sister for dinner
Day 8 - road trip where we checked out Rainbow Falls (this time it was sunny, so there was an actual rainbow), the Mauna Loa macadamia nut factory, Volcanoes National Park, and eventually made it to Kona in the dark
Day 9 - road trip to see the Mauna Kea observatory visitor center, then to Hilo, then flying to the island of Kaua’i and watching surfers at Nawiliwili Bay
Day 10 - we checked out Waimea Canyon (the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”), an old Russian 19th century fort, salt ponds, and swam with fish at Poipu Beach
Day 11 - visited the Kauai sugarcane plantation, went on a train ride around the plantation, checked out Wailua Falls, stopped at Wailua Beach, watched some hula dancing near Wailua, and checked out the stars at night over Nawiliwili Bay before heading to the airport to take red-eyes back to the mainland
Day 12 - watching out the window as we lost 5 hours of the day and went from eating breakfast before our 2nd flight to it being past dinnertime when we landed in Dulles
Hawai’i is an amazing place, and I hope you all get to go there and experience it.

The thought of lying on sun soaked beaches regularly named “the best” by travel magazines is enough to make any of your friends jealous. But once you arrive on Maui, you’ll see there’s so much more for them to envy.
Most flights arrive at Maui’s main airport, Kahului Airport (OGG). Many airlines fly direct to Maui while others include Maui as a stopover. You’ll find resorts and hotels of every size and budget in Kapalua, Kaanapali, Lahaina, Kihei, Makena and Wailea on the sunny western coast as well as one resort in Hana in East Maui. It’s about a 45-minute drive from Kahului Airport to Lahaina.
Once you’ve settled in you’ll want to explore Maui’s sweeping canvas of attractions. The western, or leeward side, is the drier side of the island and features Maui’s world-famous beaches including the beautiful Kaanapali Beach, home to a nightly sunset cliff diving ceremony. West Maui is also home to historic Lahaina, where you can find great shopping, dining and entertainment.
The eastern, or windward side, of the island is the wetter side of the island, home to the lush Iao Valley and the scenic road to Hana. The cool, elevated slopes of Haleakala are where you can find the farms and gardens of Upcountry Maui and the soaring summit of Haleakala National Park. There is so much to see and do on Maui it’s best to plan ahead.

I went to the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii for the 1st time with my best friend and his parents from September 6-12, 2015.
This vlog captures the highlights of my trip all into a fun 20-minute video. You'll see the hikes, beaches and food I've experienced.
You'll also see rare footage of me doing the hula in front of hundreds of people, bloopers, and an extra picture of me with model & YouTuber, Gina Darling, and famous photographer, Max Thompson!
This vlog is primarily for myself to look back into the fun memories I had in Hawaii.

Hi guys! Here's another travel vlog of my Hawaii vacation! I went away for 2 weeks, most of which was spent on a cruise boat! This vlog has day 4, 5, 6: Walking around Honolulu, walking around Maui, and a drawing/painting day in a coffee shop on board.
I will be posting more videos like these of the rest of the days! I think I got a bit more comfortable filming during these days compared to the days in the first Hawaii vlog- so hopefully its a better video for you guys to watch!
