Hawkesbury River in Sydney
Hawkesbury River, 22 01 2013
A beautiful day with marvelous sunshine saw us take off from Mooney Mooney, just under the road bridge over the mighty Hawkesbury River, to travel upstream against an outgoing tide to the wreck of HMS Parramatta, approximately 4 1/2 km away.
The boat was scuttled/abandoned/wrecked and left in a bend in the river about 1939, after the HMS Parramatta served for many years as a barge transporting goods to and for the river's communities.

Dangar Island - Hawkesbury River
Affectionately known as 'DANGER Island' (maybe thats just between wifey and I...), a weekend away from all that is Sydney, to soak in the natural and the remote. Engorged with local wine and sunlight; our smiling hearts could not be stifled.
Less than an hour from Sydney, Dangar Island is so close it's often too eagerly overlooked. A hidden gem, the secret of the Hawkesbury. With a frequent ferry service as well as water taxis; 10 minutes after stepping off the Brooklyn shores, you can start exploring the Islands gifts almost immediately. With a corner store slash cafe slash post office as well as a licensed bowling club dishing up cold schooners on tap with pubby, pub-type fare - you cannot go half wrong.
Dangar, the gem of the Hawkesbury lies in wait.....but shhh, don't tell anyone.
Its so close, but so far away...

Hawkesbury River, Sydney, Australia.
Title reads 'First Span of New Hawkesbury Bridge'.
Several shots of the fist span of the new bridge across the Hawkesbury river floating on pontoon to be placed in position on already constructed pillars. Pillars of the new bridge are seen as the pontoon approaches them. Several shots of the old railway bridge along side the new construction with a train hardly moving along it. More shots of the span being placed on pillars beside the old bridge.
